The Business Development Manager provides strategic practice group and individual attorney support and guidance surrounding business development planning, research and client development opportunities in every market the firm serves, locally and nationally.
The ideal candidate will present outstanding client service and listening skills to represent the department and the firm in a professional and positive manner. The role requires exceptional writing and editing skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to create messages and client-facing experiences intended for a sophisticated business and legal audience. This individual should have the ability to fluctuate between working both proactively and reactively in critical communication circumstances demonstrating careful decision making in a time-sensitive environment. Candidates must be a self-starter, collaborative in nature, organized and accountable.
This individual will seek to develop a respectful and professional relationship with the firm's attorneys, eventually developing into a trusted advisor on business development. A collaborative approach is needed across all functions of the marketing and business development team and he/she will work closely with the firm's Business Development Executive, Director of Marketing and Business Development and Business Development Coordinator to accomplish goals. Together, they will spend a large portion of their time meeting with attorneys for coaching and advising on business development, connecting attorneys to opportunities for new business development and catalyzing new business endeavors.
Position specifications: 12+ years marketing and business development experience, preferably within professional services. Undergraduate degree in marketing, journalism, communications or related business experience. Must be proficient in document management, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email (Outlook). Periodic travel to the firm's markets required.
