Essential Duties and Responsibilities

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join our North America team. Located remote from your home office, the Business Development Manager, Food and Beverage Market, Americas will be part of the Americas Commercial team reporting to the Director - Industrial Growth, Commercial, Americas. This role is responsible for the development of profitable and sustainable sales growth across food and beverage processing, packaging, and related OEM and end-user markets within the United States and Canada. Additionally, this role is responsible for aligning the local sales and marketing strategy with the business objectives. The Business Development Manager will have broad responsibility for coordinating sales efforts across the entire Power Transmission products portfolio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leverage deep expertise in the U.S. market to develop and execute a business development strategy focused on increasing food and beverage processor and packaging equipment builder specification and adoption of Gates products across target sanitary and production applications.
  • Develop, own, and execute a multi-year business plan aligned with the Americas Strategic Plan, delivering profitable growth against defined revenue and cost objectives.
  • Serve as the primary market and technical voice for food and beverage processors and OEMs by translating plant architectures, drive design standards, washdown requirements, and application demands into internal product, engineering, and commercial strategies.
  • Identify, map, and actively engage key stakeholders within food and beverage manufacturing and processing organizations, including plant management, operations, maintenance/reliability engineering, corporate engineering, sourcing, and food safety/hygiene teams.
  • Monitor and assess technology trends, regulatory changes (such as FDA, USDA, and EHEDG standards), and system-level shifts impacting food processing design and sanitation requirements and translate these insights into opportunities for Gates products.
  • Identify relevant industry standards, sanitary certifications, washdown testing requirements, and validation needs required for food and beverage plant and equipment approval and platform adoption.
  • Identify, quantify, and prioritize new business opportunities related to new product introductions, and emerging automation technologies in food processing
  • Partner closely with technical sales, application engineering, product management, and account teams to build a robust pipeline of food and beverage projects and define winning strategies for plant and program awards.
  • Develop and maintain a prioritized list of strategic and enterprise food and beverage processing targets, focusing resources on high-impact growth opportunities.


Requirements and Preferred Skills

ABOUT YOU
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or Business.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience with at least 3 years experience in the industrial market.
  • Background with food and beverage manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Travel for this role is allotted at 30-50%.
  • Must possess a strong business acumen and be an experienced, self-directed leader capable of planning, organizing, developing & directing key account plans/projects in a professional and logical manner.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000
