Are you ready to lead the charge in shaping the future of energy solutions?

AECOM is seeking a visionary and dynamic Business Development Director - Thermal Generation to join our team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work across AECOM's expansive energy practice, building capabilities, driving growth, and delivering innovative solutions to some of the world's most forward-thinking developers, utilities and high-tech clients.

This position is a REMOTE role based in the United States. .

You will play a pivotal role in delivering complex, fast-paced substation, Natural Gas Power Plant, and BESS projects that meet the critical energy needs of both grid capacity enhancement for utilities, and behind the meter solutions for data center developers, with a heavy focus on natural gas generation solutions. Roles and Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Lead and Inspire:
  • Collaborate across AECOM's energy practice and other business lines to deliver integrated, cutting-edge solutions for thermal generation energy projects.
  • Inspire and monitor multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellence in project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Serve as a thought leader in the energy sector, representing AECOM in industry forums and shaping the future of power delivery and generation for both utilities and data centers.

Drive Growth and Innovation:
  • Spearhead business development efforts by identifying opportunities, leading pursuits, and crafting winning proposals.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with utilities, data center developers, high-tech clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand AECOM's presence in the thermal power generation market, positioning us as the go-to partner for power needs.

Deliver Complex Projects:
  • Provide subject matter expertise for a project portfolio of design, development, and implementation of natural gas power plants and substations that meet the unique demands of a range of clientele, including utilities and data center developers.
  • Assist project teams when necessary in the delivery of fast-paced, high-stakes projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Assist project teams when necessary in addressing technical challenges with creativity and agility, leveraging AECOM's global expertise to deliver exceptional results.

Collaborate and Build Capabilities:
  • Work across AECOM's energy practice to strengthen our technical capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with other business lines, including Buildings + Places and Environment, to deliver holistic solutions that address the full spectrum of client needs.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring AECOM remains at the forefront of innovation in energy solutions.

Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building relationships across stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • BA/BA and 10 years of relevant experience with focus on natural gas power plants or demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education, including 2 years of leadership.
  • 10 years of experience and success in leading pursuits, managing client relationships, contract negotiations and driving business growth.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the unique energy requirements for data centers, including reliability, scalability, and sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
