Full Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Business Development to drive growth within our Valuation and Forensics practice, with a primary focus on business valuation, real estate appraisal, commercial litigation, dispute consulting, and investigative services. This is a highly visible, revenue-generating role focused on building strategic relationships and originating complex, high-value engagements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and generate business opportunities across Armanino’s Valuation and Forensic Advisory practice, including business valuation, real estate appraisal, forensic accounting, litigation consulting, and dispute advisory services.

  • Build awareness and develop sales opportunities for Valuation and Forensic services.

  • Identify and engage with potential clients—including law firms, private equity sponsors, wealth advisors, corporate legal teams, and c-suite professionals—to understand needs and align solutions with the Valuation and Forensic services practice area.

  • Maintain and nurture relationships with existing clients and referral sources to ensure satisfaction, repeat business, and referrals.

  • Manage all aspects of sales for new business opportunities throughout the entire process from prospecting and scoping through proposal writing and contract negotiations.

  • Aggressively research, identify, contact, and qualify leads, particularly those tied to business valuation, real estate appraisal, commercial litigation, disputes, fraud investigations, and regulatory matters.

  • Continuously build and maintain a robust pipeline aligned to revenue targets.

  • Actively participate in marketing initiatives to generate leads including industry events, legal networking opportunities, webinars, and thought leadership forums.

  • Effectively communicate and build ongoing relationships with prospects, clients, and internal personnel via telephone, email, networking, and in-person interactions.

  • Partner closely with internal subject matter experts to deliver compelling, differentiated solutions and proposals.

  • Work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to develop, manage, and execute a targeted sales plan.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in business development within business valuation, real estate appraisal, forensic accounting, litigation consulting, dispute advisory, or professional services.

  • Experience working within or selling into Valuation and Forensic or Litigation Consulting environments.

  • Existing relationships or an established network within law firms, private equity, corporate legal departments, or financial leadership teams.

  • Direct sales experience, including quotas, pipeline development, and managing full sales lifecycle activities.

  • Proven track record of originating and closing complex, high-value consulting engagements, particularly within business valuation, forensic accounting and/or commercial litigation.

  • Background with boutique consulting firms or established providers (e.g., JS Held, FTI, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of business valuation, real estate appraisal, fraud investigations, dispute consulting, financial analysis, and/or regulatory environments.

  • Ability to present compelling value propositions to an executive-level audience, including legal and financial stakeholders.

  • Strong business development and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex financial and investigative concepts.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.

Certain states require us to disclose the pay range and benefits summary for job openings. The compensation range for this position: $100,000 - $200,000 plus commission. Compensation may vary based on skills, role, and location. Eligible employees at certain levels can participate in a discretionary long-term financial incentive plan, subject to plan participation rules.
