What We're Looking For

Are you looking for a new, exciting opportunity? Join one of our Texas offices and be a key contributor to the growth of our bridge inspection practice throughout Texas. We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager with proven TxDOT bridge inspection experience, strong industry relationships, and a passion for leadership to help establish and expand a critical service line within the great state of Texas. While the primary focus will be on statewide bridge inspection projects, the candidate will have the opportunity to support the rapid growth of bridge inspection services at a national level. This opportunity entails being responsible for managing assigned project(s) throughout their full lifecycle including developing the scope and technical sections of proposal and procurement documents to participating in contract negotiations and overseeing the delivery of the project plan to successfully accomplish HNTB27s 4 for 4 performance: delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client27s satisfaction on every project. This position proactively manages the budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications in support of the project27s objectives. Provides high level technical tasks while managing and reviewing design related specifications, calculations, reports and plans. Coordinates with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline and functional teams, to address and problem-solve design-related issues or concerns.

What You27ll Do:

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB27s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client27s satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations.
  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
  • Implements the firm27s project delivery plan using HNTB27s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
  • Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB27s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You27ll Bring:

  • Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on statewide bridge inspection projects. Identifying and escalating risk and change management issues.
  • Leading a team for large-scale inspection projects including multiple subconsultants.
  • Lead and perform field inspections of complex bridges and tunnels according to FHWA27s NBIS and NTIS as well as TxDOT and federal standards.
  • Using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver projects or task orders.
  • Interfacing with your client-level peer on projects or task orders.00
  • Providing technical guidance to team and task leads as well as performing portions of the technical work.
  • Develop high quality and detailed inspection reports accurately depicting existing conditions and critical findings.
  • Develop condition quantities and repair costs for National Bridge Element Level and National Tunnel Element Level reporting.
  • Perform and review structural analysis, design and plans as needed.
  • Perform and review load rating analysis, calculation and report development as needed.
  • Mentor junior staff in their development, particular bridge inspection team members.
  • Monitor quality and budget on all assigned tasks.

What We Prefer:

  • Master27s degree in Engineering
  • 10 years relevant experience
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Complex bridge and tunnel inspection experience with TxDOT and local agencies.
  • Successful completion of FHWA-NHI27s Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges, and Tunnel Safety Inspection courses.
  • Precertified in the following TxDOT work categories: 6.1.1/2, 6.2.1/2, and 6.3.1/2
  • OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification.
