Full Job Description
This position is responsible for compliance with State and Federal safety regulations, as well as Customer's site-specific requirements. The Branch Safety Manager carries out the proper coordination, management, and implementation of comprehensive training policies in industrial, occupational, and environmental safety. The Branch Safety Manager's duty is prompt responding to the reported accidents in order to evaluate the current safety practices, which work in the best possible way. Offering a safe and hazard free working environment to workers in the workplace is the most important function of this professional. The individual is expected to be on call 24/7, work long hours, overnight as needed, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, including rewards and discipline.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State and job site specific rules and regulations.
• Support Branch Managers for improvement of branch safety performance.
• Conduct employee training.
• Conduct audits - Field, Facility and Branch Operations.
• Conduct branch safety meetings.
• Conduct new hired employee orientations.
• Maintain annual OSHA Logs.
• Perform accident investigations and participate in reviewing accidents - injuries to determine root cause analysis, equipment, and property damage.
• Represent Company at jobsites where accidents / injuries have occurred.
• Assist in management of W/C cases and implementation of the Company's Return to Work Program.
• Track progress towards safety goals.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate Safety and Branch Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
• Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, safety management occupational environmental health or industrial health.
• OSHA 500/502 and/or OSHA 501/503 or the ability to achieve within one year.
• 5-10 years of experience necessary.
• Construction industry experience.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
• Requires analysis and investigative skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid drivers' license (CDL preferred) & good driving record.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• OSHA 30 required
• OSHA 510 and/or 511
• First aid CPR/AED certifications
Desired:
• Experience in working in both a union and nonunion environment.
• First aid CPR/AED instructor
• Previous crane/rigging experience
• Knowledge/experience of MSHA regulations
