Your RoleThe Manager - BMS Architecture & Standards plays a critical role in supporting and advancing Digital Realty's global Building Management System (BMS) strategy across our expanding data center portfolio. This role bridges the gap between global architecture standards and real-world operational deployment, ensuring BMS solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Technology, and vendor partners, you will help drive standardization, support innovation initiatives, and continuously improve BMS platform capabilities to enhance operational excellence across a global environment.
What You'll Do- Support the implementation, adoption, and continuous evolution of global BMS architecture standards across Digital Realty's data center portfolio.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Technology teams to align BMS standards with business and operational requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to the development of engineering guidelines and best practices.
- Evaluate and support proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives for new technologies, alarming strategies, and controls solutions.
- Collaborate with global BMS support teams to gather feedback and identify opportunities for standardization and continuous improvement.
- Work with vendors and integrators to ensure consistent delivery standards and high-quality solutions.
- Support the maintenance, optimization, and modernization of existing BMS platforms.
- Promote operational excellence by improving platform performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Assist in developing technical documentation, standards, and implementation procedures.
- Support cross-functional initiatives involving controls systems, monitoring platforms, and facility technologies.
What You'll Need- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Controls Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 5-8 years of experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS) in critical facilities or data center environments.
- Strong knowledge of leading BMS platforms such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, Honeywell, or similar systems.
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, and other industrial communication protocols.
- Understanding of system integrations between BMS, monitoring, and facility management platforms.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across global teams.
- Experience supporting technical standards, governance processes, and operational procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting global data center operations and international BMS standards.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for BMS, OT, and controls environments.
- Professional certifications related to BMS, controls engineering, automation, or related technologies.
- Experience working with large-scale critical infrastructure environments.
Compensation RangeOur published pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and geographical location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. Moreover, an employee's total compensation package varies by role and may include salary, cash bonus, and equity awards not quantified below.
