Job Description

Seeking a collaborative BI Developer to join our team in the ongoing development and support of enterprise solutions for data warehousing and enterprise analytics.
This position is responsible for working with the Data Management & Enterprise Analytics team to design, build, and support enterprise-grade semantic models in an agile environment to drive published reports and self-service data analysis. The BI Developer will be skilled at soliciting and synthesizing business requirements, coordination of technical specifications and design, development, and implementation of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) tabular models. The BI Developer partners with Business Analysts in the organization to ensure relevance of design, partners with Data Visualization developers to ensure their visualization needs are met by the semantic model, and partners with end users to support distributed report development and self-service data exploration.
Responsibilities

Primary job responsibility is to develop and maintain semantic models for self-service access to enterprise data and work with the Enterprise Analytics team to produce high-quality analytics products. A BI Developer will also be responsible for:

• Developing solutions in our Azure Analysis Services, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Data Lake environment.
• Developing queries to support data extraction needs.
• Performing data validation and supporting testing of data models and reports.
• Working with the Data Architect and Data Visualization Analyst to translate functional specifications into technical specifications.
• Serve as subject matter expert for self-service analytics products.

BI Developer is a member of the Data Management and Enterprise Analytics team and works alongside Data Engineers, Data Visualization Analysts, Data Analysts, and Data Architects reporting to the Director of Data Management and Enterprise Analytics.
Additional Responsibilities:

• Partner with external resources on large projects.
• Generate and maintain strong documentation to support self-service analytics.
• Collaborate with other internal technical personnel to troubleshoot issues and propose solutions.
• Support compliance with data stewardship standards and data security procedures.
• Apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to resolve support issues as they arise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years' experience performing data analysis and building BI solutions.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft BI stack (SQL Server, SSAS, Power BI), specifically developing Analysis Services Tabular models.
• Strong proficiency with DAX and T-SQL.
• In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, security, and monitoring).
• Knowledge of software development best practices.
• Excellent analytical and organization skills.
• Effective working in a team as well as working independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred applicants will also have:

• Experience designing test scripts and leading testing of reports and data models.
• Experience in an agile SDLC environment using Team Foundation Server.
• Experience planning and implementing QA and testing.
