  • Support project turnover after a successful bid by reviewing estimates with the project team.
  • Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.

Job Description Summary:

The BESS Electrical Estimator is primarily responsible for preparing electrical estimates for battery energy storage systems (BESS), with secondary support for photovoltaic (PV) solar estimates.

This role is hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review proposal specifications and drawings todefinescopeandestimaterequirements.
  • Prepareestimates byperforming takeoffs and enteringscopedetailsintotheestimating system.
  • Quantifybid packageincidentals,includingsubcontractedwork, equipment rentals, tools,andsupplier costs.
  • Identifyqualified suppliersandsubcontractors,solicitquotes, and review submissionsforalignmentwithplans and specifications.
  • Review scope, technical requirements, and pricingbefore issuing formal bid packages.
  • UseAccubidAnywhere for labor allocationand materialtakeoffsthrough SOLVproprietaryassemblies, andhelp improvethoseassemblies inAccubidManager.
  • Afterasuccessful bid,support projectturnoverby reviewingthe estimate, scope, quotes,andkey considerationswith the project team.
  • Completeclient-required documentson time.
  • Preparescopeletter inclusions, exclusions, and clarificationsthat supportestimatevalues.
  • Workwith field teams toidentifycost-saving opportunities.
  • Supervise andtrainestimatingstaffasneeded.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Performotherdutiesas assigned.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering, construction management, architecture,oranequivalentcombination of education and experience.
  • Minimumof threeyearsofelectricalestimatingordirectlyrelatedexperience.
  • Ability to understand substation, transmission,switchyard, energy storage,and electrical designcomponents,includingtheir purpose and use.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Teams, Excel,andAccubid.
  • Strong timemanagementskills, with theability to prioritizetasksand meetcritical deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to communicateurgencyand drivetimelyresponses frominternal and external partners.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to reduce costs and support schedule requirements.
