Description We are seeking an innovative and passionate Behavioral Health Clinician to join our primary care team in a unique dual-role position that combines direct patient care with residency education. This is an exciting opportunity to practice integrated behavioral health while helping train the next generation of primary care physicians in behavioral health assessment, intervention, and whole-person care.
Position Summary
This position is divided between:
- 16 hours per week of direct patient care within an integrated primary care setting
- 20 hours per week as a residency faculty member , providing education, consultation, and mentorship to primary care residents
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing integrated behavioral health services while fostering residents' knowledge, confidence, and skills in addressing behavioral health concerns within primary care.
The work is enhanced by being part of a medical team with solid experience in integrated work. Collaborative work with psychiatrists and other integrated clinicians in the MaineHealth system adds to the experience. Individual supervision, group supervision, and quarterly trainings are benefits of this position.
Summary:
The role of Behavioral Health Clinician III, working under an independent license, involves providing comprehensive care and support to clients with behavioral health needs. The key responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing direct care through individual, group, and family therapy sessions. The Behavioral Health Clinician III will have specialized skills in three out of nine advanced skills domains, such as Teaching, Quality & Process Improvement, Research, and Supervision/Mentoring.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Master's degree in Social Work , Clinical Counseling, Addiction Treatment, or related field from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or the National Addiction Studies Accreditation Commission (NASAC).
- License/Certifications: Licensed LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT from the respective licensing board of the State of Maine Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation (OPOR)
- Experience: At least three years of behavioral health experience as an independently licensed clinician.

The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package.
The pay range for this position is $77,147.20 to $104,353.60 per year
Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
