Responsibilities

  • Design and develop P&ID drawings and wiring diagrams based on customer specifications.
  • Review and interpret tender and IFC design drawings to plan project scope.

  • Select and size equipment and devices according to project requirements and standards.
  • Participate in project estimate reviews to ensure quality and financial targets.

Full Job Description
Job Summary:

We're looking for an BAS Engineering Technologists to join our growing team. This role involves designing and supporting building automation systems (BAS), from engineering through commissioning and performing duties that range from general troubleshooting on customer systems to support on BMS / low-voltage projects with a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

You will be part of a team while also maintaining an independent role with a focus on ownership and organization throughout the entire service order process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop P&ID drawings, panel layouts, network layouts, wiring diagrams per
    customer requirements and/or specifications.
  • Navigate, review and interpret tender and IFC design drawings with specifications to accurately
    plan and build out the scope of the project.
  • Identify gaps in design and communicate with the appropriate client to ensure the scope has
    been fulfilled.
  • Select and appropriately size "to application" all equipment including field sensing and control
    devices, dampers, valves etc. to meet the Project requirements, specifications, codes and
    standards.
  • Participate in project estimate reviews to ensure the design meets financial targets while
    maintaining the highest level of quality.
  • Program the building control system to engineered specifications, applying practical knowledge
    with theoretical principles to provide a functional and energy efficient building solution.
  • Functionally test all programming to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate with owners, consultants, contractors, team members etc. via teams, email and
    phone to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure timely issuance of as-built documents and any project specific
    close out documents required by specification or contract.
  • Maintain knowledge of all Delta hardware, software, tools and applications.
  • Analyze and advise owners and contractors regarding appropriate control application strategies
    and available options for projects where specifications have not been previously provided.
  • Develop the Project "commissioning checklist" for Project startup, checkout and commissioning.
  • Perform onsite Project Commissioning and Startup complete with owner demonstration.
  • Coordinate project turnover meetings with the Project Manager and sales, to gather all
    information needed to conduct Engineering.
  • Actively participate in team and Engineering meetings.
  • Work within a cross functional environment to drive advances in company processes and
    methods to improve its ability to meet the mission statement.


Qualifications:

  • Technologist Diploma in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a BAS Engineering Technologists / BAS Engineer
  • Ability to provide strong leadership skills to support direct and indirect reports and broader business
    directives.
  • Possess strong understanding of HVAC Control Systems to accurately appraise existing BAS systems
    components, evaluate general site conditions, and recommend the most applicable system or
    technical solution.
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the entire Building Technology offering.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, technical, and financial acumen.
  • Working experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient programming abilities.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • The ability to work in a complex fast paced environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of integrated projects.
  • Knowledgeable regarding governing building, electrical and mechanical codes, ASHRAE, and NFPA
    standards.
  • Display strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.


The salary range is $75,000 to $110,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. The base salary is just one component of Ainsworth's total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards and benefits such as short-term incentives and health insurance, among others.
