You will help redefine how people discover, search, and shop for the things they love, on a business expanding quickly across global markets. The Global E-commerce Seller Business team plays a critical role in driving the success of our Global E-commerce platform. We are dedicated to building and nurturing a thriving ecosystem of local and global sellers who bring diverse products, brands, and innovations to our marketplace. Our engineering team builds scalable systems and platform capabilities that support sellers throughout their journey on TikTok Shop, including onboarding, product management, order and fulfillment experiences, customer service, seller growth, and other core commerce capabilities. Responsibilities: - Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and systems supporting key e-commerce and seller experiences. - Build reliable APIs and distributed systems supporting high-volume commerce workflows, data processing, and platform capabilities. - Develop and improve technical solutions across areas such as seller onboarding, product and catalog management, orders, fulfillment, customer service, and seller growth. - Improve system scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and operational stability for large-scale e-commerce services. - Troubleshoot complex technical issues across distributed services and production environments and develop scalable, long-term solutions. - Partner with Product, Operations, and other engineering teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions that improve seller experience and platform adoption. - Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to deliver platform capabilities supporting TikTok Shop's international growth.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. - 3+ years of experience developing highly scalable backend services and systems using at least one programming language such as Java, Golang, Python, Scala, or C++. - Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, API design, and scalable system design. - Experience building backend services, distributed systems, APIs, or other high-availability online systems. - Strong programming capabilities with good code design and coding practices. - Strong ownership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams. - Strong product and business understanding, with the ability to align engineering solutions with current and future business needs. Preferred Qualifications - Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, seller platforms, merchant services, payments, SaaS, or other complex business platforms. - Experience building seller- or merchant-facing systems, commerce infrastructure, or high-scale transactional platforms. - Understanding of observability, reliability, data consistency, and performance optimization for large-scale distributed systems. - Experience working with APIs, platform services, or third-party systems. - Familiarity with modern AI-assisted engineering workflows and developer productivity tooling. - Passion for programming, strong learning ability, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset toward emerging technologies.

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $153900 - $300960 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
