Full Job Description
Application close date:
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will work on launch vehicles, space vehicles and launch facility systems for the New Glenn Program. You will work across subsystems and support integrated solutions to achieve our vision of "millions of people living and working in space."

This role is on the New Glenn Avionics team and will primarily support payload integration where you will focus on aligning deliveries of Avionics Line Replaceable Units, Avionics Harnessing, Avionics Software, and Avionics Systems Engineering artifacts with customer requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as the single threaded avionics leader responsible for avionics configuration definition and integration of multiple customer payloads with the New Glenn launch vehicle
  • Develop avionics systems engineering requirements for customer payload integration and streamline processes to assist in quick-turn integration efforts
  • Support customer design reviews and present technical information to internal and external customers while working closely with other systems integrators to meet schedule demands
  • Represent avionics during mission proposal and scope estimation efforts
  • Integrate customer hardware into the New Glenn Hardware In The Loop test platform and serve as Test Lead for integrated testing related to customer deliverables.
  • Own verification and validation of customer electrical interface requirements during Integrated Vehicle Testing

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineering (or related technical field)
  • 3+ years of technical hands-on electrical systems integration experience, preferably on launch vehicles or spacecraft
  • Experience with system engineering practices (formal or informal)
  • Experience working with multi-discipline, cross functional groups to test and deploy integrated electrical systems into the field
  • Unmatched communication skills -- ability to present, write, and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience integrating launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other vehicles
  • Previous experience working through integration cycles
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain schedule across multiple integration efforts simultaneously
  • Familiarity with other engineering disciplines including but not limited to Structures, Ordnance, Thermal, Combined Loads, Fluids, Mechanical, etc.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related Launch Vehicles and Spacecraft

Culture Statement

At Blue Origin, we are dedicated to building an authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every desired qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

  • Stock Options for all regular employees (working at least 20 hours/week)
  • Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
  • Dependent on role type and job level, employees may be eligible for benefits and bonuses based on the company's intent to reward individual contributions and enable them to share in the company's results, or other factors at the company's sole discretion.
