About the TeamThe Supply Chain team turns design intent into executable reality, balancing lead time, cost, complexity, and manufacturability to ensure we can build and scale Terran R. On this team, you're not just placing orders; you're actively shaping the solution. With full ownership across raw materials, capital equipment, and services, the role requires both strategic thinking and day-to-day execution. As the company scales, supply chain becomes increasingly central, working closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and more to make decisions that work for today but also for tomorrow.
About the RoleAs an Avionics Material Planner, you will own material planning for Terran R's avionics hardware, including flight computers, power distribution units, sensor and data acquisition boxes, and other line-replaceable units. You'll support these products from development and qualification builds through flight production and into rate, often while designs are still evolving.
- Own end-to-end material planning for avionics assemblies, from EEE components, connectors, bare boards, wire, and cable through PCBAs, wire harnesses, and box-level integration hardware.
- Collaborate with Avionics Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Integration, Test, and Launch teams to derive material demand from multi-level BOMs and build schedules, influencing decisions across functions without direct authority.
- Identify long-lead and high-risk items ahead of formal design release using preliminary BOMs and engineering input, and recommend risk buys, early material authorizations, and buffer strategies, making sound calls with incomplete data and clearly explaining the tradeoffs.
- Assess the material impact of engineering changes (ECOs and ECNs) and part revisions, including obsolescence, excess exposure, rework or scrap decisions, and effectivity across builds.
- Manage material flow to contract manufacturers and harness suppliers, including consigned and turnkey kitting, shortage tracking, allocation of constrained components, and clear-to-build readiness, while running the build-by-build Material Readiness process under tight deadlines.
- Develop avionics material forecasts and planning processes that inform Sourcing strategy, support the transition from NPI to production, and improve MRP automation and accuracy in our ERP platform.
About You- 4+ years of experience in material planning, demand planning, or production planning
- Direct experience planning avionics or high-reliability electronics hardware in the aerospace, defense, or space industry, such as EEE components, PCBAs, wire harnesses, or electromechanical box-level assemblies
- Experience supporting products from NPI or development into production, including planning against changing BOMs and managing engineering change impact across multiple builds
- Working knowledge of electronics supply chain dynamics, including component lead times and allocation, obsolescence, MOQs and reels, contract manufacturer kitting, and part substitutions or alternates
- Strong understanding of MRP inputs and how MRP functions within ERP systems such as Plex, Infor LN, SAP, or Oracle
Nice to Haves (Not Required)- Familiarity with space-grade or high-reliability part requirements, such as lot and date code control, traceability, screening, and counterfeit prevention
- Experience with design release processes and PLM systems, and how they feed ERP
- Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Tableau, or advanced Excel
