Full Job Description
Overview

We are seeking a full-time Aviation Marketing Manager 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for generating and executing marketing plans, coordinating new product introductions, developing internal and external marketing materials, and supporting the Sales teams as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Make marketing judgments involving complex avionics systems to persuade potential customers to buy Garmin products
  • Develop marketing strategy for products and services, company positioning for future trade shows, assessing current competitive marketing campaigns, and advertising/marketing execution quality with periodic oversight
  • Define product and feature positioning, key benefits, target market, and go-to-market strategy
  • Host regular marketing meetings with the sales team leaders to aid in development of product marketing plans for new products
  • Develop and maintain a 3 year product and technology roadmaps to guide marketing strategies and product rollouts with periodic oversight
  • Understand basic knowledge of customer needs, specific market requirements, find innovative solutions, and develop basic familiarity with avionics installations
  • Build and present product presentations demonstrating basic knowledge of Garmin products and showing a good level of comfort presenting in front of customers
  • Ability to influence and lead diverse teams from various internal/external organizations
  • Maintain rolling 12-month advertising direction with periodic oversight
  • Provide timely notes after key marketing meetings with a good level of detail and develops action plan for follow-up accordingly
  • Contribute and suggest strategies to stimulate sales growth
  • Occasionally provide marketing input for new product concepts.
  • Collaborate with Sales/Marketing Communications to deliver creative/high-impact printed collateral, website content, press releases, marketing memos and product launches
  • Contribute to any aspects of material development, including writing/editing copy, developing screenshots, logistical coordination and more
  • Provide leadership for digital marketing including social media, webinars, forums, web search and other digital advertising
  • Ensure product financials fit within the overall product strategy and pricing guidelines
  • Conduct and communicate competitive analysis on a routine basis, including research at tradeshows and lead market research effort
  • Train sales teams on product selling points and provide detailed competitive analysis
  • Participate in trade shows and regional events to demonstrate products and articulate competitive benefits of Garmin products and systems
  • Contribute customer, market, and product knowledge to internal cross-functional teams
  • Assist in collecting, compiling and presenting competitive intelligence internally
  • Identify opportunities for expanding our product line to serve aviation market needs

Basic Qualifications
  • Master's Degree AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Private Pilot, aviation technical background, or proficiently demonstrate the ability to market the added benefits of Garmin aviation products to customers
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of the avionics industry and Garmin aviation products
  • Demonstrates basic business-to-business analytical, financial, strategic thinking and marketing skills and proficiency solving problems through analysis and best practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge developing and executing strategy/growth plans for new products and new markets and has good technical product knowledge
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with effective presentation skills and public speaking ability
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be positive, detail/accuracy oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work quickly in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of management/associates

  • 2+ years experience managing and promoting high technology products from inception through sunset
