This role will provide hands-on experience bridging hardware installation with software and control systems, driving impact in defense innovation. As an Autonomy Integration Build Engineer, you'll interface remotely with our design engineering teams in Austin while owning the hands-on oversight of control hardware installation, sensor and actuator integration, mast systems bring-up, and systems commissioning support at the shipyard.

Responsibilities
• Assist in the design, analysis, and integration of autonomous systems including control computers, sensor suites, mast systems, actuator valves, digital controls, and robotics subsystems
• Collaborate with engineering teams to perform CAD modeling, analysis, and system optimization
• Operate as liaison between engineering, drafting, and production teams to resolve technical challenges during construction
• Identify and resolve non-conformances, lead root cause analysis, and drive resolution via IRBs (Issue Review Boards) and rework plans
• Lead and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)-ensure traceability, communication, implementation, and verification
• Support the integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on system architecture and performance
• Support documentation including technical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and as-built records for internal use, regulatory bodies, and client presentations
• Manage CAD models to document as-built changes made during ship construction
• Oversee installation and integration of control hardware, wiring, network connections, and interfaces with vessel systems
• Support systems bring-up activities including sensor calibration, actuator programming, control system testing, and verification
• Coordinate installation and bring-up of mast systems including radar, lidar, cameras, antennas, and associated sensors and electronics
• Manage installation, programming, and testing of actuator valves and digitally controlled components throughout the vessel
• Perform electrical and network connectivity verification for sensors, actuators, control systems, and automation equipment
• Assist with software integration, firmware updates, and configuration of control systems hardware
• Troubleshoot integration issues across electrical, software, and mechanical interfaces during bring-up phase

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Ocean Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with maritime industry standards including ABS electrical and control system requirements, and US Coast Guard regulations
• Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering, control systems, robotics, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems
• Experience working with autonomous systems, robotics, or control system integration in marine, aerospace, or defense environments
• Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino)
• Experience with sensors (radar, lidar, cameras, IMUs, GPS) and sensor integration, calibration, and testing
• Understanding of actuator systems including electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic actuators, valves, and control interfaces

• Knowledge of software integration, configuration management, and firmware/software troubleshooting
• Understanding of systems bring-up and integration testing methodologies
• Strong communication skills across software engineers, electrical engineers, technicians, quality teams, and leadership
• Comfortable working in an industrial shipyard environment with hands-on involvement in system installation and bring-up
