Automotive Parts Manager

Position Type: Full Time
Pay Range: $135,000 - $175,000

Job Description

Rod Baker Ford in Plainfield is seeking an experienced and motivated Parts Manager to join our team. If you are a well-qualified Parts Manager looking to go to the next level we would like to talk to you. The ideal candidate will oversee inventory management, purchasing, wholesale and retail parts sales, and departmental staff while ensuring exceptional customer service and profitability. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and extensive knowledge of automotive parts and dealership operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all daily operations of the Parts Department.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels through forecasting, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Monitor stock levels, obsolescence, and returns to maximize profitability.
  • Work closely with the Service Department to ensure timely availability of parts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM and aftermarket suppliers.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate parts department employees.
  • Develop department goals, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, receiving, stocking, and merchandising of parts.
  • Handle warranty parts, core returns, and vendor credits in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally while delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and manufacturer requirements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of automotive parts experience, preferably in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of OEM and aftermarket automotive parts.
  • Experience with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or similar).
  • Excellent inventory management and purchasing skills.
  • Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
