We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Test Lead with 8+ years of experience in test automation, quality assurance, and test leadership. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Java-based automation framework development, modern automation tools, and manual testing practices, along with the ability to independently drive testing activities and collaborate effectively with business and technology stakeholders.
In this role, you will- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Java and modern design principles.
- Build and execute automated test suites for UI, API, and backend validation using Playwright and related technologies.
- Lead end-to-end testing activities, including test planning, execution, defect management, and delivery ownership.
- Manage test data and implement automation best practices to improve test efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with development teams, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure quality deliverables.
- Produce meaningful QA status reports, metrics, and quality dashboards for senior leadership.
- Drive functional discussions with business teams and contribute domain expertise within Insurance and/or Wealth Management.
- Support CI/CD implementation and source code management using Git-based workflows.

What you need to have to be considered- 8+ years of experience in Software Testing and Test Automation.
- Strong proficiency in Java, including Streams, Lambdas, Collections, and modern design patterns.
- Hands-on experience in Java-based automation framework development.
- Must have 3+ years of strong experience with Playwright for UI automation, API testing, and backend validation.
- Solid understanding of test data management and automation best practices.
- Experience with Git, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong manual testing skills, including test design, execution, functional validation, and defect lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to lead testing efforts independently and drive deliverables to successful completion.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
- Experience creating QA metrics, status reports, and executive-level quality updates.
These will help you stand out- Domain knowledge in Insurance and/or Wealth Management is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Kafka, MongoDB, and AWS S3.

Total compensationWe regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 90,000 - 110,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
