We're seeking an innovative and collaborative Automation Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of intelligent automation, robotics, and computer vision technologies for material handling equipment. In this role, you'll design, develop, and implement software solutions that power autonomous systems, robotics, computer vision, and advanced operator assistance technologies. You'll work across multidisciplinary teams to build scalable, high-performance software that integrates seamlessly with embedded systems, sensors, and intelligent vehicle platforms. We value innovative and creative ideas-yes, even during meetings (where snacks are always welcome). If you enjoy tackling challenges with positivity and a bit of humor, you'll feel right at home here.
What You'll Be Doing:- Design, develop, and integrate high-performance software components using C++ for real-time data processing and logging applications.
- Develop software using ROS2, DDS, and related technologies for robotics and autonomous systems.
- Build software architectures, component functionality, and system integrations that support complex automation projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software, embedded, robotics, machine learning, electrical, and mechanical engineers to deliver innovative solutions.
- Lead technical development of assigned software components while identifying risks, resolving architectural challenges, and supporting overall project objectives.
- Develop and implement algorithms supporting advanced operator assistance, robotics, computer vision, and safety-critical automation applications.
- Integrate software with cameras, LiDAR, sensors, embedded controllers, and robotic hardware platforms.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including software designs, system architecture, validation plans, test procedures, and technical recommendations.
- Develop hardware and software validation plans, analyze test results, and recommend improvements to system performance and reliability.
- Mentor fellow engineers by sharing technical knowledge and promoting continuous learning across the team.
- Research emerging technologies and evaluate new software tools, frameworks, and automation solutions for future product development.
What We're Looking For:- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 2+ year of professional experience developing software applications in C++, Python, C#, or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Working knowledge of modern software development practices including source control using Git.
- Proficiency in Linux-based development environments.
- Hands-on experience with hardware interfaces including cameras, LiDAR, embedded controllers, robotic platforms, or similar systems.
- Understanding of localization systems, navigation, and autonomous path-planning algorithms.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and software debugging skills with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams while managing multiple priorities.
What Sets You Apart:- Background in robotics, autonomous systems, computer vision, or industrial automation software development.
- Experience developing applications using ROS2, DDS, or other robotic middleware frameworks.
- Knowledge of machine learning, AI, or perception algorithms supporting autonomous systems.
- Familiarity with embedded software development, real-time operating systems (RTOS), or embedded Linux.
- Experience integrating cameras, LiDAR, radar, IMUs, GPS, or other sensor technologies.
- Understanding of software architecture, multithreaded programming, distributed systems, or real-time software design.
- Exposure to safety-critical software development, functional safety, or automotive development processes.
- Experience with software validation, automated testing, continuous integration (CI/CD), or DevOps practices.
- Previous experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, automotive, or material handling industries.
- Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and developing next-generation intelligent automation technologies.
