Position Summary

As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing sustainable automation solutions that advance our manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams consisting of manufacturing team members, engineering, operations, and quality to develop solutions that improve operational performance and aid our production team members in day-to-day manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
  • Promoting a Safety-First workplace, encouraging the identification and closure of opportunities for safety improvements.
  • Design and implement automation systems for NVH manufacturing processes to improve safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations team members to define automation requirements and specifications for new and existing products and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Create and maintain documentation for automation processes, including standard operating procedures and user manuals.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in automation technologies and NVH manufacturing methodologies.
  • Provide training and support to team members on automation systems and best practices.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation across the division.
  • Embrace LEAN manufacturing principles, participate in LEAN events (Kaizen, Value Streams Mapping, etc.) and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement (LEAN) mindset to achieve Zero Defects through product and process robustness.
  • Successfully manage and implement multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Drive and embrace collaboration and partnership with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing and Product design team members.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires a bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of industry-related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of control systems, PLC programming, and HMI design.
  • Proficiency in programming languages to support equipment and robotics.
  • Understanding of electrical schematics, control wiring, and instrumentation
  • Experience with automation tools, equipment, and software (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric).
  • Proficient with CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Experience and understanding of fundamental manufacturing methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and contribute in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time, within Continental US to support multiple NVH Division Plants

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Parker Lord manufacturing processes (i.e., Elastomer Processes, Bonding Processes, Assembly, etc.).
  • Product design knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of SCADA tools such as Ignition
  • Master's Degree in an engineering discipline, MBA or similar.
