Full Job Description
The University of Miami UHealth Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Nurse Manager to work in our Head & Neck department. The Associate Nurse Manager, Inpatient plans, oversees, and directs patient care assuring standards of quality, service and safety are met within the philosophy and objectives of the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. Acts as the day-to-day ANM and directly supervises the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective clinical operations and/or outcomes. The ANM assists management with strategic operations of the unit, conducting staff meetings, and all other responsibilities. With management's oversight the ANM leads and/or provides input and completes performance improvement processes. • Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. • Oversees daily operations of the nursing unit and personnel. • Provides direct patient care as needed per entity standard. • Assumes 24/7 responsibility, when needed. • Collaborates with the Nurse Leaders in formulating and implementing short- and long-term goals that align with organizational priorities and consistently monitors and oversee expectations of nursing care and nursing documentation and assures that Standards of Practice are being followed. • Reports issues or concerns appropriately and timely and keeps leader informed of unusual patient or staff occurrences; changes in staffing requirements/patient acuity or complexity; and any possible risk-related incidents. • Assists in developing roles and responsibilities of all direct reports by fostering a culture of talent management & development within area of specialty. • Works with leaders to identify, develop & retain high potential employees by actively engaging them through delegation, stretch assignments, supervision & educational programs. • Encourages nursing staff to advance through the Professional Development program. • Monitors productivity and flexes appropriately and meets or exceeds financial targets. • Works to improve employee engagement through collaboration; holds staff accountable, meets one-on-one with staff, and acknowledges team members for great performance. • Participates in and initiates the corrective action process when necessary and ensures that policies are fairly and consistently followed and enforced. • Demonstrates active support of the hospital Process Improvement (PI) philosophies and aligns departmental goals to support PI initiatives. • Works closely with Direct or Indirect leaders in developing quality improvement/PI processes to assure safe, quality patient outcomes and implements Evidence-Based Best Practices and is actively involved in at least one policy or process improvement committee. • Consistently rounds on patients, monitors bedside handoff, and assures responsiveness of staff to call lights. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
