The Opportunity:We are seeking an experienced Associate to join our Mergers & Acquisitions financial advisory practice in New York. You will be a core member of transaction teams, taking ownership of financial analysis and execution work while helping senior bankers develop ideas and engage with clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other strategic advisory assignments across industries. You will translate company and industry research and operating assumptions into valuation analyses, transaction materials and client recommendations, while guiding Analysts and working directly with senior bankers, clients and other advisors. Key Responsibilities:- Supporting senior bankers in origination activities, including evaluating strategic alternatives, identifying potential acquirers and acquisition targets, and preparing client presentations
- Preparing and analyzing historical and projected financial statements, developing financial models and evaluating the financial implications of mergers and acquisitions
- Building and applying valuation models, including comparable company analysis, discounted cash flow analysis and precedent transaction analysis
- Taking ownership of transaction execution workstreams, including due diligence, preparation of transaction materials and coordination with clients and other advisors
- Preparing analyses to assess transaction structures, merger consequences and financing considerations
- Conducting company and industry research, including analysis of business models, competitive positioning, market trends and shareholder profiles
- Guiding Analysts and reviewing financial analyses and presentation materials for accuracy and quality
Required Skills & Experience:- Experience in Investment Banking (corporate finance/M&A) or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of accounting, corporate finance and valuation, with the ability to analyze and value businesses
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with experience developing financial models and translating analyses into clear conclusions
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Results driven and able to perform well under pressure and against tight deadlines
- Proven team player who is able to effectively interact with a wide variety of internal groups, clients and other advisors
- Strong multi-tasking skills and attention to detail
- Ability to take ownership of execution workstreams and guide junior team members
- Strong Microsoft Office suite skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Education:- Undergraduate degree; focus in finance, business, accounting, economics, mathematics is preferred.
Estimated Salary Range: USD $175,000 - $225,000
