Position Summary

The Associate Director of Academic Success and Advising serves as a key member of the Office of Student Affairs and is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing programs and services that promote academic achievement, student persistence, bar readiness, and overall student success among NYU Law students. The Associate Director provides individualized academic coaching, advising, and support to students throughout their law school experience, with particular attention to students navigating academic challenges, significant academic transitions, and preparation for bar admission. The Director collaborates closely with Academic Services, faculty, Career Services, Graduate Affairs, the Moses Center, and other university partners to ensure students receive coordinated support throughout their academic journey. The Associate Director serves as a central resource for academic success and advising initiatives and is responsible for identifying emerging student needs, developing interventions, assessing outcomes, and advancing a comprehensive student success strategy for the Law School.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Master's Degree

Preferred Education:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.)

Required Experience:
5+ years progressively responsible experience in legal education, student affairs, academic support, academic advising, bar success, or a related field.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years experience working directly with law students in academic support, bar success, student affairs, or advising roles. Experience utilizing student success data to develop and assess interventions. Experience supporting students from a broad range of educational backgrounds and experiences.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of legal education and the law student experience. Strong counseling, coaching, advising, and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and administrators. Experience developing and implementing programs, initiatives, or interventions designed to improve student outcomes. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,000.00 to USD $97,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
