Full Job Description
About the role
Syenex is hiring an Associate Director, Growth to own the marketing engine behind our commercial function, building Syenex's brand, content, and digital presence as we bring our delivery platform to cell and gene therapy developers. You'll take primary ownership of how Syenex shows up across channels: the content and campaigns that build awareness, the conferences and events where we meet customers face to face, and the marketing tools and data that make all of it measurable.
You'll work closely with our Head of Commercial, our scientific team and alongside our other early commercial hires to build this function largely from scratch, with real input into strategy as well as owning execution.
What you'll do
Produce Syenex's content and collateral in line with marketing strategy and across channels - updating website copy, curating technical/blog content, social media, email, and conference collateral - curating input from our scientific and commercial teams into content that resonates with technical and executive biotech audiences
Work with Head of Commercial to actualize the vision for Syenex's brand identity and visual/verbal consistency across every commercial touchpoint, from sales decks to trade show events
Plan, design, and execute email and LinkedIn campaigns that build awareness and generate qualified pipeline, using segmentation, testing, and performance data to continuously improve results
Lead conference and event logistics - planning private events, designing our conference and event presence, and coordinating registration, shipping, staffing, and scheduling across Syenex's conference calendar
Setup and deploy marketing events (webinars, dinners, user-group meetups) that deepen relationships with target accounts
Own Syenex's marketing technology stack - evaluating, implementing, and managing the tools (CRM/marketing automation, email platforms, design tools, analytics) that run our go-to-market
Execute and optimize paid digital campaigns and SEO/GEO/AEO initiatives to increase visibility, drive qualified traffic, and generate leads.
Use AI tools deliberately across the role - content drafting and ideation, campaign personalization, data analysis and reporting - to move faster and do more with a small team
Track and report on marketing and campaign performance (pipeline sourced, engagement, campaign ROI) and use those insights to prioritize what to do next
Partner closely with the Head of Commercial and the rest of the commercial team to align marketing programs with sales priorities and target accounts
What You'll Bring
4-7 years of experience in marketing, growth, or a related commercial role - ideally with exposure to B2B, life sciences, or another technical/scientific product
Hands-on experience with digital marketing execution: content creation, email marketing, LinkedIn/social campaigns, and brand or visual design (or close partnership with design resources)
Experience planning and running in-person events and conferences, including logistics, budget, and on-site execution
Working fluency with marketing tools - CRM/marketing automation platforms, email platforms, design tools, and analytics/reporting tools
Fluency with AI tools for content creation, research, and workflow efficiency, and enthusiasm for adopting new ones as they emerge
Strong writing and visual instincts - able to translate complex, technical subject matter into clear, on-brand content without a large team to lean on
Enough comfort with science/biotech terminology to collaborate credibly with our scientific team and represent Syenex accurately to a technical audience (advanced degree not required)
A builder's mindset: comfortable owning ambiguous, undefined programs end-to-end and operating with minimal day-to-day direction
Willingness to travel for conferences and events (roughly 25-35%)
As Syenex's first dedicated marketing and growth hire, you'll build our brand and go-to-market engine largely from a blank page - with real input into strategy, not just execution of someone else's plan. You'll work closely with our Head of Commercial and the rest of our founding commercial team, with room to grow into broader marketing or growth leadership as Syenex scales.
