Associate Director, Global Product Manager Hard Empty Capsules (Lonza - Capsugel)Location: The preferred candidate will be based in Morristown, NJ or Tampa, FL, Greenwood, SC, with the ability to work from one of the Lonza-Capsugel office locations and follows a standard Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. work schedule. What will you do:
As the Associate Director, Global Product Manager - Hard Empty Capsules, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the strategy, growth, profitability, and market positioning of a key product portfolio within the Capsules & Health Ingredients (CHI) business. Reporting to the Category Product Management Leader, you will drive product strategy across the entire lifecycle while partnering closely with commercial, manufacturing, R&D, marketing, finance, and regional business teams to maximize business performance and customer value.
- Own the global P&L performance of the assigned product portfolio, driving revenue growth, profitability, market share expansion, and long-term value creation.
- Develop and execute global product strategies aligned with divisional and corporate growth objectives.
- Lead end-to-end product lifecycle management, from portfolio planning and innovation through commercialization, optimization, and product retirement.
- Build and maintain financial models, business cases, forecasts, and pricing strategies to support strategic decision-making and profitability objectives.
- Evaluate market opportunities, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and emerging industry trends to identify growth opportunities and strategic investments.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and R&D teams to identify and execute cost optimization initiatives while maintaining product quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing to develop compelling value propositions, product positioning, customer messaging, and go-to-market strategies.
- Serve as the commercial product expert, supporting regional sales and business development teams in customer engagements, strategic negotiations, and complex opportunities.
- Develop a deep understanding of product technologies, manufacturing capabilities, and regulatory requirements to effectively guide business decisions.
- Influence and align senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders around strategic priorities, ensuring effective execution of global initiatives.
- Track industry trends, competitive intelligence, and customer insights to shape future product roadmaps and strategic investments.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in Product Management, Portfolio Management, Marketing, Business Development, Commercial Excellence, Strategy, or a related business function.
- Demonstrated experience owning or influencing P&L performance, pricing strategy, and commercial growth initiatives.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, portfolio optimization, and strategic business planning.
- Proven ability to develop and execute product strategies that balance customer needs, market opportunities, and business objectives.
- Experience conducting market analysis, competitive intelligence, customer segmentation, and opportunity assessments.
- Strong financial acumen with experience building business cases, forecasting revenue, evaluating profitability, and making data-driven decisions.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders across a global matrix organization.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to translate technical product capabilities into compelling customer value propositions and commercial strategies.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical, healthcare, consumer health, excipients, capsules, nutraceuticals, or related regulated industries is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Power BI, Salesforce.com, and other business intelligence tools.
- Experience working within global organizations and collaborating across multiple regions and cultures preferred.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
