Full Job Description
FGS is seeking a sharp and energetic communications professional to join the firm's Strategic Communications division. This position is within a growing team supporting a balanced portfolio of financial services and digital infrastructure clients and is based in our Washington, DC office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as day-to-day coordinator on a diverse roster of financial services and digital infrastructure client accounts and/or sub-projects, with a focus on complex policy, regulatory and reputational issues across both sectors
  • Craft and deliver persuasive messaging and related collateral materials, simplifying complex policy, legislative, regulatory, legal or other general issues. Strong writing abilities are critical to success in this position
  • Maintain expert knowledge of evolving policy and political issues that impact clients' sectors and a grasp of reporting trends
  • Generate media outreach strategies and pitch stories on a regular basis.
  • Manage multiple projects, including task and deadline tracking, for multiple clients from concept to completion
  • Demonstrate strong client-relations skills - responsive, professional, helpful
  • Contribute to firm's new business process and efforts
  • Work with other FGS divisions to deliver integrated services (from government relations and advertising to content development and public opinion research)

ATTRIBUTES
  • A BA/BS degree in a related field and 5-9 years of relevant experience
  • Specific familiarity and experience with financial services, technology, energy, digital infrastructure or related policy issues preferred
  • Extremely strong writing and communications skills; familiarity with both newspaper style and social media writing; ability to produce clear, concise materials within tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify and cultivate key media contacts and outlets for a range of clients
  • Experience pitching stories to local and national news outlets and knowledge of what drives media coverage
  • Detail oriented and strong project management skills; preference for account coordination experience at a public relations agency
  • Strong strategic thinker with understanding of how the larger economic, policy, technology and infrastructure landscape impacts clients' communications abilities and needs
  • Ambition for sourcing and/or successfully leading efforts to obtain new business
  • A demonstrated capacity for leadership, communication and teamwork
