As the Associate Director – New England Field Construction, you will provide overall operational leadership for the physical execution, build-out, and maintenance of our telecommunications infrastructure across a broad geographic footprint in New England. You will directly and indirectly lead a diverse workforce of approximately 150+ field supervisors, technicians, and construction crews responsible for outside plant (OSP) aerial, underground, and buried construction, service delivery, installation, and repair across Core, Fios, and Fixed Wireless networks.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Field Engineering & Construction, you will drive operational excellence, enforce uncompromising safety and quality standards, maintain strong labor relations with union leadership, and ensure rapid, high-quality network deployment and service restoration.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Field Construction & Network Build Execution: Oversee large-scale aerial and underground fiber/copper construction projects, plant maintenance, and network installation/repair across the territory to meet business build-out targets.
- Workforce & Operations Management: Balance workload with available workforce resources to achieve key metrics in productivity, service delivery, quality control, and safety.
- Union Labor Relations: Cultivate collaborative, respectful partnerships with local union leadership. Adhere to collective bargaining agreements, manage grievance resolution processes equitably, and lead bargaining-unit teams effectively.
- Financial & Budgetary Control: Manage operational expenses (OpEx) and capital construction budgets. Monitor costs, material usage, contractor/internal staffing ratios, and operational efficiencies.
- Safety & Quality Frameworks: Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all field environments. Enforce rigorous quality standards to prevent plant defects and lower long-term maintenance costs.
- Emergency Response & Network Restoration: Direct out-of-hours emergency responses for major service outages, storm restoration, cable damage, and telephone plant damage.
- Leadership & Culture: Coach, mentor, and develop frontline managers and supervisors. Drive employee engagement, performance accountability, and operational agility across field operations.
