Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a
Associate Counsel to join our
Legal team in our
New York, NY location.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist in providing day-to-day legal counsel and support to a broad array of business units, including Production, Creative, Finance, Insurance and Human Resources, as needed.
- Review and advise on legal matters arising during content production, including evaluating rights issues; reviewing content for copyright, trademark, and defamation risks; and advising on employment matters.
- Assist in managing AMC's litigation docket, including helping to develop and implement litigation strategy.
- Analyze and interpret contracts and provide thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues in a wide range of legal areas.
- Work closely with members of the Studio business affairs team to draft and negotiate production-related agreements.
- Help develop and refine Studio and Corporate forms and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Member of the New York Bar in good standing.
- Minimum of two years of legal experience, including experience at a law firm with an emphasis on litigation. Experience in an in-house legal or business affairs department at a studio, advertising agency, production company, or comparable media company is preferred.
- Knowledge of intellectual property, labor and employment, defamation, rights of publicity, or privacy law is preferred.
- Familiarity with entertainment industry development, production, transactions, and standards is preferred.
- Excellent communication, drafting, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the legal team and across business divisions.
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters across disciplines, follow through, and meet deadlines.
- Eagerness and ability to learn and retain new substantive matters quickly.
- Sound judgment and the ability to remain effective in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment, including in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to identify and resolve legal issues efficiently and communicate effectively with all levels of leadership.
The base compensation for this position is
$120,000 - $130,000 commensurate with experience.
