Full Job Description
Loyola Marymount University, a member of the West Coast Conference, seeks a qualified candidate for Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement. The Associate AD develops, implements, and supports comprehensive strategies and tactics that drive revenue (including ticket sales and corporate sponsorship activation), increase visibility and attendance, support recruitment, and enhance in-game fan experiences.

The Associate AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement serves as a LMU Athletics Senior Staff member. This role directs and implements comprehensive strategies to drive revenue (including ticket sales and corporate sponsorship activation), increases brand awareness, boosts attendance, supports recruiting, and enhances the in-game fan experience. The Associate AD serves parallel purposes, performing tactical production work and content generation while overseeing the budget, personnel, and resources required to produce integrated marketing products that achieve identified outcomes and align with the university’s mission.

The Associate AD is embedded within LMU Athletics, partnering closely with members of Senior team and coaching staffs. The incumbent reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications and is fully integrated with LMU MarComm to ensure a seamless workflow and synchronized.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and implement internal and external marketing for LMU Athletics, prioritizing resources and aligning with the Senior Staff.

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans to maximize revenue, increase attendance, promote programs, and elevate in-game experiences.

  • Synchronize gameday production areas including promotions, giveaways, crowd engagement, and video to ensure execution of established plans and create a home field/court advantage for student-athletes.

  • Create and coordinate the annual marketing calendar and deadlines to reach revenue and attendance targets.

  • Partner with LMU Athletics external team to implement digital media plans that maximize social platforms and increase engagement.

  • Ensure LMU Athletics marketing deliverables are high-quality and aligned with university standards regarding tone, style, visual identity, and brand.

  • Produce and edit traditional and digital marketing products (graphics, videos, etc.) to engage target audiences and support fundraising or recruitment campaigns.

  • Manage LMU Athletics email marketing campaigns using best practices, including template creation and A/B testing for continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate with MarComm colleagues to incorporate Athletics’ objectives into broader university communications, presentations, and social media efforts.

  • Collaborate with campus and community stakeholders to promote athletics events and initiatives.

  • Oversee the marketing and promotions budget, exercising independent judgment on purchases and ensuring projects are completed on time. Ensure successful outcomes by adopting best-practice project management and risk mitigation plans.

  • Develop and maintain a robust and impactful marketing internship program.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the LMU Spirit Squad and mascot, including budget oversight.

  • Act as a liaison between LMU Athletics and MarComm to ensure seamless resource allocation; work closely with public relations professionals as assigned.

  • Evaluate tactics and assess impact to continuously improve the effectiveness of marketing and outreach efforts. Explore non-traditional marketing opportunities and oversee grassroots programs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

NCAA, Conference, and University Rules Compliance

  • Conduct all duties in accordance with the rules and policies established by the university, MarComm, Athletics, all sports conference affiliations, and the NCAA.

  • Complete all rules compliance information as required.

  • Participate in an annual evaluation of adherence to rules compliance.

  • Conduct annual evaluations of rules compliance for all assigned personnel.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations).

  • 3–5 years of experience in athletics marketing, promotions, or administration, with evidence of successful leadership in positions of increasing responsibility.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple marketing channels, highly developed skills in writing and editing.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and creative production software (including Adobe Creative Suite), email marketing tools, social media management tools, and analytics software.

  • Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment within a complex organization.

  • Evidence of a creative leadership style with a track record for leading both strategic and tactical marketing outcomes.

  • Self-starter able to work independently and entrepreneurially to implement new initiatives.

  • Ability to produce high-quality deliverables with meticulous attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Ability to provide quick turnarounds for multiple requests while maintaining a reputation for high-quality work.

  • Highly collaborative style with a background in relationship-building, consensus-building, and managing through influence.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to support programming, events, and major project deadlines.

Salary Range

$90,000.00 - $95,000.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
