Overview

The Associate Vice President, Nursing Services provides executive leadership, administrative structure, and strategic direction to support and advance professional nursing practice across the organization. This role is accountable for the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of systems, programs, and processes that support professional nursing practice and align with organizational goals.

The Associate Vice President serves as a key nursing leader in promoting excellence in patient care, advancing nursing professional practice, and fostering an environment of autonomy, accountability, collaboration, and innovation. This position partners with nursing and interdisciplinary leaders to achieve the organization's mission while supporting nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in patient advocacy and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing enhancement of professional nursing practice initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain administrative structures and systems that support nursing excellence and professional practice standards.
  • Lead the integration of evidence-based nursing practices, quality improvement initiatives, and patient-centered care models throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, nursing leaders, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to advance organizational and nursing strategic priorities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, trust, collaboration, and professional growth within the nursing workforce.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of programs that support nursing professional practice, quality outcomes, patient safety, and workforce engagement.
  • Ensure alignment of nursing practice with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Provide leadership in the evaluation and redesign of nursing care delivery models to support operational effectiveness and exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Utilize continuous quality improvement (CQI) methodologies to drive performance improvement and enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Participate in organizational planning and resource allocation processes, including budget development and fiscal stewardship.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Doctorate in Nursing required.
  • Candidates who do not possess a Doctorate in Nursing at the time of hire must obtain the degree within three (3) years of hire or as otherwise specified in an employment agreement with the Vice President of Nursing.

Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional nursing practice experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in healthcare and nursing operations.
  • Proven knowledge and application of:
    • Advanced professional nursing practice
    • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) methodologies
    • Nursing care delivery models
    • Healthcare delivery systems
    • Budget development and financial management processes

Certifications
  • Board Certification in Nursing Administration Advanced required within six (6) months of hire.

Licensure
  • Current nursing licensure in accordance with applicable state regulations or eligibility for licensure upon hire.

Additional Qualifications
