Roles, Responsibilities and Expected Behaviors

To achieve success at Herrero Builders, we expect certain behaviors that are aligned with our core ideologies that will allow the Assistant Superintendent to perform the following tasks:

Develop, execute, and track punch list completion; coordinate inspections and documentation to achieve project closeout.
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals to support field execution and resolve issues.
• Understand construction sequencing and verify that installed work complies with design intent and specifications.
• Assist in verifying layout, benchmarks, control points, and site dimensions in coordination with surveyors.
• Track and protect existing utilities to ensure uninterrupted operations during construction.
• Utilize contract documents, submittals, and schedule to resolve field issues in coordination with the Superintendent and PM.
• Keep accurate and organized field records, including logs and documentation for turnover at project completion.
• Understand subcontractor scopes of work and verify alignment with contract requirements.
• Confirm subcontractors are working from current drawings, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
• Understand and assist with permit requirements and inspection processes to maintain compliance.
• Assist in administration, coordination, and oversight of subcontractor work.
• Assist in managing project schedule, develop Weekly Work Plans (on smaller projects), and support overall sequencing.
• Monitor and expedite materials and long-lead items in coordination with the project team.
• Support site logistics planning, including setup of temporary facilities and utilities.
• Anticipate field issues, assist with corrective actions, and support basic cost tracking and small purchase evaluations.

• Subcontractors
• Union Field Staff
