Department Statistics
Essential Job Duties The Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, invites applications for two 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, each with a distinct research focus:
- Climate and environmental statistics, including sustainability.
- Statistics in human health and health sciences, including biostatistics and bioinformatics.
For both positions, we are particularly interested in scholars whose research advances statistical approaches to complex challenges in their respective areas and may intersect with emerging fields such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program that advances statistical methodology and applications in the relevant research area.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and related fields, and mentor doctoral students in research, dissertation development, and completion.
- Collaborate across disciplines to address complex scientific challenges through statistical and data science approaches, while contributing to the department's academic mission and professional and university service.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field by the time of employment.
Other Required Qualifications - Research expertise in statistics or a related field, with relevance to the designated application area.
- Potential to develop a sustained research program and contribute to peer-reviewed scholarship.
- Ability to teach statistics effectively.
