Assistant MEP Project Manager

Dewberry's Richmond, VA office is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM).Designed for professionals looking to grow into a project management career, this role offers hands-on exposure to both client service and project leadership. In partnership with experienced Project Managers, you'll help deliver quality engineering solutions, support client objectives, and navigate project challenges. As skills and experience develop, you'll take on increasing ownership of projects and client relationships while building the foundation for a successful project management career.

Dewberry’s Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) team includes many offices & staff organized into a MEPS service line focused on nationwide clients in specialized facility types and specialized MEPS design services. Our experience includes high-performance buildings, hospitals, net zero/renewable energy technologies, microgrid and energy resilience design, and a broad set of other MEPS services. Our service line contains subject matter experts (SME), many of whom are in leadership roles in international professional organizations.  Our repeat clients include universities, healthcare systems, state, local, and federal government agencies, and large global industrial manufacturers, among others. • Always copy the PM on all communication (Emails, tele conv, etc) with the client, architect and outside consultants.
• Assist in conducting fieldwork and at times take the lead in this effort.
• Attend design meetings with the client and issue minutes when the Project Manager cannot attend or accompany the PM to meetings.
• Organize and direct frequent in-house meetings under the direction of the PM.
• Provide input to the PM in regards to scheduling personnel. Work with the PM in the preparation of detailed personnel loading by task interfaced with the detailed schedule.
• Assist the PM in the preparation of storyboards and detailed project timelines.
• Assist the PM in the organization and maintenance of the design binder.
• Assist the PM in the coordination of all the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
• Assist the PM in the supervision and coordination of the submission of documents to appropriate reviewing authorities.
• Assist the PM in the coordination of the review responses and help ensure they are reflected in the drawings/specifications.
• Under the direction of the PM, arrange for in-house quality review primarily for the PM to ensure that all of the clients' needs and requests have been accommodated. Assist the PM to ensure and coordinate among all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
• Arrange/attend pre-bid conferences when the Project Manager cannot attend or accompany the PM. If required, issue the minutes, addenda, under the direction/supervision of the PM.
• Assist the PM at bid openings and help to prepare / issue certified bid tabulation.

• Accomplished (5+ years of experience) Construction Professional (Engineer or Contractor)
• EIT or PE
• Knowledgeable of construction process, familiar with AIA and VA state construction contracts
• Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Well organized, takes good notes.
• Good conceptual understanding of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and structural systems with general knowledge of system operation, space requirements, cost.

The projected range for this position is $95,000.00 - $122,000.00 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
