Assistant Maintenance Manager

Join the Transdev team as an Assistant Maintenance Manager in Pheonix West location. This position assists in the supervision of the vehicle maintenance and repair of the fixed route, circulator, and support vehicles. The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager in the maintenance oversight of (180) vehicles and supervision of (75) maintenance employees. This individual must have the ability to effectively lead, work, and communicate with employees and customers, and ensure repairs and maintenance are performed in a timely and efficient manner in the absence of the Maintenance Manager. Major responsibilities:

Minimum Education Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.

Minimum Experience & Skills Required:
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years' experience dealing with heavy equipment, preferably experience with CNG transit buses.
  • Experience working with Unions in the transportation industry.
  • Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.
  • Experience supervising employees on multiple shifts.
  • Solid computer skills in standard office tools including word processing and spreadsheet software and use of web-based systems.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects, climbing ladders/stairs/ramps or scaffolding, and using tools and equipment that require a high degree of manual dexterity.
  • Required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, speak, hear, to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell. Must be able to lay on back on a mechanic's dolly to work underneath motor vehicle equipment.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work is performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors, gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.
