Utility Services Group, Inc. (USG) are working together to find an
Assistant Controller to support and strengthen their accounting operations as the company continues to grow. This role is a hands-on accounting leadership position responsible for assisting with financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, payroll oversight, internal controls, job cost reporting, and process improvement in a multi-entity construction environment.
The right candidate will bring strong technical accounting ability, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset. This position plays an important role in supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, team development, financial analysis, and scalable systems improvement as the company continues to grow.

What You Will Do- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial records, journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial reports.
- Support and help lead month-end and year-end close processes, including general ledger review, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting packages.
- Review payroll for accuracy and compliance and coordinate effectively with third-party payroll providers.
- Maintain, optimize, and help expand the effective use of Vista ERP, including financial reporting, job cost reporting, data integrity, and process efficiency.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow review, and financial analysis to help leadership make sound business decisions.
- Support construction and project-based accounting activities, including job costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and cost tracking.
- Help establish, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that promote accuracy, compliance, and accountability.
- Supervise office/accounting support staff and help develop future accounting team capability.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities that improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and scalability.
- Partner with the General Manager and operational leaders to review financial performance, resolve issues, and support continued company growth.
What USG Is Looking For- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA preferred or demonstrated progress toward a professional accounting certification.
- 3-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction, contracting, or another project-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, financial reporting, payroll processes, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Experience with Vista ERP strongly preferred especially financial reporting, job cost reporting, and process improvement.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Supervisory experience preferred, with the ability to build team capability and assume increasing leadership responsibility over time.
- Strong technology skills required; experience with AI implementation or accounting automation is a preferred.
Work Environment and ScheduleThis is primarily an office-based position in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Limited remote work may be possible on rare occasions. Occasional limited travel may be required.
The normal schedule is full-time,
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Extended hours or occasional weekend work may be needed based on business, client, or networking needs.
