Job DescriptionAs a Area Prevention Specialist within Gilead's HIV Prevention team, you will serve as a flexible field-based commercial resource, providing coverage and support across multiple geographies within an assigned Area based on business priorities, territory needs, planned and unplanned absences, and evolving market opportunities.
In this role will report into the Executive Regional Director of Sales and work closely with the Regional Director for each assigned geography. You will represent Gilead's HIV Prevention portfolio to healthcare providers and other key stakeholders, driving business results through strategic account management, strong clinical acumen, and customer-centric engagement. You will develop and maintain trusted relationships with customers, communicate complex scientific information in a clear and compelling manner, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners to optimize patient access and customer experience.
Success in this role requires a demonstrated track record of sales achievement, strong business judgment, adaptability, and the ability to operate effectively across changing geographies and customer environments.
This position supports the New York, NY territory and requires significant travel across assigned geographies.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Account Management & Business Execution - Develop and execute comprehensive territory business plans aligned with Area priorities, customer needs, and business objectives.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with healthcare providers, healthcare systems, and key stakeholders across assigned geographies.
- Identify opportunities to expand patient access and optimize product utilization through effective account planning and customer engagement.
- Consistently achieve or exceed sales objectives while adapting strategies to evolving market dynamics and territory assignments.
- Leverage customer insights, market intelligence, and business analytics to inform territory strategy and drive performance.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management - Serve as a trusted resource to healthcare providers by delivering relevant clinical, product, and disease-state information.
- Establish long-term partnerships with customers through consistent, value-added interactions and a deep understanding of practice needs.
- Effectively communicate complex scientific and clinical information in a manner tailored to diverse customer audiences.
- Demonstrate advanced influencing, negotiation, and relationship-management skills to support customer engagement and business outcomes.
Clinical & Product Expertise - Maintain a high level of expertise in assigned therapeutic areas, disease states, treatment guidelines, and competitive market dynamics.
- Deliver compliant, accurate, and balanced product and clinical information consistent with approved labeling and company policies.
- Remain current on emerging clinical data, healthcare trends, and industry developments that may impact customers and patients.
- Appropriately position Gilead products within the broader treatment landscape to support informed healthcare decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner effectively with Medical Scientists, Field Reimbursement Managers, Market Access colleagues, and other cross-functional stakeholders to address customer needs and enhance the customer experience.
- Collaborate within a matrix environment to coordinate account strategies and support patient access, acquisition, administration, and operational needs.
- Share field insights and customer feedback to inform business planning and identify opportunities to improve customer engagement and patient outcomes.
- Foster productive internal and external partnerships that advance business objectives and support patients.
Compliance & Professional Conduct - Conduct all activities in full compliance with Gilead policies, the PhRMA Code, OIG guidance, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and sound business judgment in all customer and business interactions.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of adverse events, product complaints, and other reportable information in accordance with company requirements.
- Maintain all required training and certifications necessary to perform the responsibilities of the role.
Operations & Territory Management - Accurately document customer interactions and business activities within required systems and platforms.
- Effectively manage territory resources, budgets, expenses, and administrative requirements.
- Prioritize activities and allocate time strategically to maximize customer impact and business performance across changing geographic assignments.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in supporting multiple territories and business needs across the Area.

Basic Qualifications: High School and Nine Years' Experience
OR
Associates Degree and Seven Years' Experience
OR
Bachelor's Degree and Five Years Experience
OR
Master's Degree and Three Years Experience
- Ability to engage in travel as may be reasonably required, including regular travel within the assigned areaacross different geographies as assigned territories within the Area will change aligned with business needs. Expect 70-80% travel (and, to the extent applicable, satisfaction of any requirements associated with such travel).
- Satisfaction of any onsite visitation requirements of healthcare practitioners within an assigned area, if applicable (which may include but not be limited to, by way of example, vaccinations, drug and background screenings, and any other requirements that certain healthcare practitioners may adopt).

Preferred Qualifications: - Prior pharmaceutical, biotech or healthcare industry sales experience
- Demonstrated selling skills focused on highly competitive markets
- Proven and consistent track record of meeting/exceeding sales objectives, preferably in specialty markets
- Successful performance and collaborative leadership with account-focused cross-functional local teams
- Experience in selling injectable physician-administered products
- Familiarity with the managed care landscape and its impact on business
- Experience in selling a Buy and Bill product with proven sales success
- Experience managing a multiple product portfolio
The salary range for this position is: $115,260.00 - $149,160.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
