Position OverviewThe Sr Area Operations Manager provides hands-on leadership across multiple ready-mix operations in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, overseeing production, maintenance, logistics, safety, employee performance, and customer service.
This role requires a visible, people-focused leader who can drive operational excellence, support employee development, and ensure safe and efficient operations across a multi-site environment.
What You'll Be Doing- Provide hands-on, day-to-day leadership to direct reports, batch plant operators, and drivers, ensuring operational priorities and performance expectations are met.
- Oversee production activities, maintenance programs, and heavy equipment management to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Interview and support the selection and onboarding of drivers and other operational employees in partnership with Human Resources.
- Manage employee performance and conduct matters, including coaching, documentation, corrective action, and discipline, in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
- Champion safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement through regular field presence, clear communication, and consistent follow-up.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production, logistics, staffing, service delivery, budgets, resources, and performance metrics while building a culture of accountability, engagement, and development.
What Are We Looking For- Must be fully bilingual (English/French) to support operations across provinces.
- Demonstrated hands-on leadership experience in ready-mix concrete operations, coaching, developing, and managing employee performance.
- Strong analytical, communication, troubleshooting, and decision-making capabilities, with working knowledge of operational equipment, maintenance, and mechanical processes.
- Ability to lead change, reinforce accountability, develop bench strength, and drive performance in a dynamic operating environment.
- Familiarity with regional regulations and industry best practices.
- Aggregate operations experience and SAP experience are considered assets.
- Experience managing multi-site operations and balancing priorities across multiple locations; experience in a unionized environment is strongly preferred.
Work Environment- Travel within Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec locations required.
