Kiewit is seeking an experienced Architectural Lead to launch, build, and oversee a new architecture office supporting our growing Industrial market in Dallas, Texas. This role begins remote, transitioning into full office leadership as the location is established. The Architectural Lead will serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for the office, lead multidisciplinary project teams, and drive architectural excellence across industrial building projects including manufacturing, power, water/wastewater, data centers, and other technically complex facilities.

This is a strategic leadership role for a proven self-starter who thrives in building teams, shaping culture, and delivering high-quality, constructible design solutions.

Location

This position will be located in our Dallas Texas office, but initially may be worked remotely from the Dallas region as the office is being established. We desire candidates locally in that area.

Responsibilities

Office Startup & Leadership

  • Establish and grow a new architecture office, including staffing strategy, workflows, culture, and operational processes.
  • Serve as the office POC for internal partners, clients, and leadership.
  • Build a high-performing architectural team aligned with Kiewit's EPC model and constructability-driven approach.
  • Implement Kiewit architecture standards, QA/QC processes and best practices.


Project & Technical Leadership

  • Lead architectural design for industrial buildings from concept through IFC deliverables.
  • Oversee system selection, code compliance, building layout, and coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams.
  • Ensure designs meet project goals, contractual requirements, and constructability expectations.
  • Review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
  • Ensure KAE standards and processes are followed and provide insight into new standards and process improvements for new building types.


Team Management & Mentorship

  • Direct and mentor architects, designers, and BIM specialists across multiple projects.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development guidance.
  • Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented environment that supports project success.


Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary architectural contact for clients, partners, and internal project leadership.
  • Support proposal development, project planning, and early design strategy.
  • Represent the architecture discipline in meetings, reviews, and cross-functional coordination.


Operational & Business Support

  • Support budgeting, staffing forecasts, schedules, and resource planning for the office.
  • Recommend improvements to standards, tools, and processes.
  • Contribute to strategic growth of Kiewit's Industrial Buildings practice.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in architecture from NAAB accredited program required. Professional licensure required in TX
  • 10+ years of architectural experience with industrial facilities or technically complex buildings utilizing pre-engineered metal buildings and stick built structural steel systems.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience, leading teams and managing multi-discipline projects in a highly matrixed environment for an A/E or GC, executing building project design phases from concept to construction is required for Design/Build (D/B), Engineering/Procurement/Construction (EPC), and Progressive Design Build (PDB) contracts is required.
  • Experience with estimating/quantity takeoffs for construction, development of procurement packages, bid review and vendor selection processes is required.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit/BIM and integrated design workflows.
  • Ability to work remotely during startup phase and transition into office leadership.
  • Excellent leadership, emotional intelligence, strong written and verbal and client-facing skills.
  • Proven ability to build processes, teams, and operational structure from the ground up.
  • Experience with standing up projects, putting deliverable milestone schedules together, and developing detailed work plans.
