As an Architect III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, Market technologies team, you are an integral part of a team that delivers high-quality architecture solutions across software applications and platform products, leveraging AWS/cloud and enterprise-authorized AI. You drive significant business impact and help shape target-state architecture across multiple domains, including cloud, data, and AI-enabled patterns. You will collaborate with other architects and engineering teams to design and deliver secure, resilient, and scalable solutions that support front-office trading, sales, research, and market-operations workflows.

Job Responsibilities

  • Executes architecture solutions and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions and break down complex problems.
  • Applies enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate architecture analysis and design (e.g., option evaluation, trade-offs, and documentation), validating outputs and handling data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Leverage strong AWS/cloud expertise to apply cloud-native principles, assess solution designs, and provide architecture recommendations that balance core architecture standards with pragmatic trade-offs.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, evaluates design recommendations, and is accountable for ensuring that design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms and services that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Represents a product or platform in architectural governance bodies and contributes to architecture decisions, standards alignment, and risk reviews.
  • Leads the product team in evaluating new technologies using existing standards and frameworks, and develops recommendations to influence progress to modern architecture.
  • Drives reuse-first adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-enabled patterns and guardrails within the work environment across the product’s SDLC and engineering governance (e.g., design reviews, CI/CD quality gates, testing, and operational readiness), ensuring traceability and human-in-the-loop validation.
  • Contributes to architecture communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies relevant to Market Equities platforms (e.g., low-latency systems, streaming, cloud patterns, data/AI architecture, and resilience engineering).

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of one or more software applications and architecture development within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, distributed systems, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to software engineering workflows (e.g., requirements interpretation, design support, code/test assistance) with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled features and architectural patterns (e.g., model/service integration, retrieval patterns, monitoring considerations) while maintaining security, resiliency, and auditability expectations.
  • Ability to evaluate current technologies and recommend ways to optimize architecture, scalability, reliability, latency, and cost.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, including agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience building and deploying agentic AI applications (e.g., multi-step orchestration, tool use, guardrails, evaluation/monitoring).
  • Strong understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud operational models, including resilience patterns, identity and access management, secrets management, networking, and secure operations.
