Role descriptionJob Title: ArchitectLocation: CanadaJob Summary :The Cloud Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing enterprise cloud solutions across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. The role ensures cloud platforms are secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective while aligning technology strategy with business objectives. The Cloud Architect provides technical leadership for cloud adoption, modernization, migration, DevOps, security, and operational excellence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Skills:Cloud Strategy & Architecture- Define enterprise cloud architecture and technology roadmap.
- Design scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions on AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Establish architecture standards, governance frameworks, and cloud best practices.
- Develop High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents.
Cloud Migration & Modernization- Lead application, data, and infrastructure migration initiatives.
- Assess existing environments and recommend modernization strategies.
- Drive containerization and microservices adoption using Kubernetes and Docker.
- Support cloud-native application development and platform engineering.
Security & Compliance- Design cloud security architecture aligned with enterprise security policies.
- Implement identity and access management, encryption, network security, and compliance controls.
- Ensure adherence to industry regulations and governance standards.
DevOps & Automation- Define Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards using Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM/Bicep.
- Enable CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment frameworks.
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to improve deployment efficiency and reliability.
Performance & Cost Optimization- Monitor cloud resource utilization and optimize infrastructure costs.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, availability, scalability, and disaster recovery requirements.
- Establish cloud monitoring, logging, and observability standards.
Technical Leadership- Provide guidance to development, operations, and engineering teams.
- Conduct architecture reviews and approve technical designs.
- Mentor cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, and solution architects.
- Engage with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Required Technical SkillsTechnical Skills- Strong experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Expertise in cloud networking, compute, storage, database, and security services.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, or similar container platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM/Bicep.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab.
- Experience with API management, integration platforms, and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability architectures.
Communication & Stakeholder Management- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce technical specifications, solution design documents, and executive-level presentations.
- Ability to translate business, operational, security, and compliance requirements into actionable technical architecture and delivery plans.
- Experience facilitating workshops with business, technical, security, and operational stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills for cloud, data, and enterprise technology engagements.
- Ability to mentor engineering teams and enable knowledge transfer through documentation, workshops, and solution design reviews.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of IT experience with at least 5 years in cloud architecture and solution design.
Experience leading enterprise cloud transformation programs.
