The Applications Engineer will be responsible for the support of trials and programming improvements made through combination of software and applications modifications deemed required for particular parts/process. Additionally, this position would be responsible for software activity completed offsite and working this through a standard project management method (scope, estimate engineering hours, reviews, regular project updates with hours report, testing at our facility in Rock Hill, SC, if possible, along with delivery and training).
- New Product Introduction (NPI) - Lead and support NPI activities, transition customer products from initial concept and feasibility through validated production-ready processes. Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure technical requirements and performance targets are achieved.
- Process & Machine Development - Develop and optimize machine tools and processes utilizing Laser Ablation, Laser Driling, and Electro-Discharge Machining (EDM), in addition to supporting future product and process development. Improve existing processes to enhance quality, efficiency, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Continuous Improvement (CI) - Drive continuous machine and process improvements by implementing innovative solutions, standardizing best practices, and enhancing productivity to meet evolving industry trends and customer needs.
- Customer & Commercial Support - Demonstrate machine tools and machining processes to customers and provide technical training as required. Deliver applications support for machine tool contracts and subcontract production programs.
- Manufacturing & Technical Support - Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support to production teams. Assist with the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of metallurgical samples. Develop technical documentation, reports, and work instructions to support applications development and process transfer.
- General Responsibilities - Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Apply now and be a part of the manufacturing of tomorrow!Requirements- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar degree. (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with 5-axis machine tool controls. (Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas - Laser Drilling, Cutting, or Welding, Laser Ablation (micro machining), or EDM Hole Drilling)
- Strong understanding of the principles, operation, and Kinematics of 5-axis machine tools.
- Ability to interpret, manipulate, and apply complex 3D geometry.
- Proven experience developing machining applications for complex components, preferably within aerospace or industrial gas turbine environments.
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Conrollers (PLC) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) software.
- 50-75% Travel to our customer locations
