The Houston Projects Team operates within the After Market Services & Solutions platform and produces high quality engineered and standard mechanical seals and auxiliary systems for the petrochemical, oil-refining, power, pharmaceutical, ore-process, and water-processing industries. 

Job description

The Application Engineer, part of Commercial Operations team located in Houston, TX, is assigned to support the workload of the Flowserve Global Projects Sales and Commercial Operations Team.  This person will work to support projects with Engineering Contractors and Headquarter Accounts in a variety of ways including; seal and system selection, answer technical questions, attending technical and commercial review meetings, preparing proposal packages in response to customer requirements, and purchase order management.

The Application Engineer will be the single point of contact focused on customer satisfaction with regard to on-time-delivery of quotations and reduction of cycle times for order entry for assigned pump business units in order to help increase the seal/system bookings.

Accountabilities

  • Provide quotations for Seals and Systems at market level pricing in response to RFQ's in the requested customer time frame.
  • Interpret specifications and data sheets, including special warranty, delivery and payment terms requested by our customer.
  • Create/maintain product standardizations including price lists based on pump equipment.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with teams across different departments and coordinate comprehensive proposal packages that meet customer requirements.
  • Address technical and commercial inquiries from customers and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support Sales Engineer to achieve booking target by providing opportunities for monthly forecasting process.
  • Visit customer facilities, meeting customer AE and Purchasing teams to build professional relationships.
  • Interact with Kalamazoo, India, various QRC’s and Tlaxcala Manufacturing Hubs to facilitate special price requests and support backlog information to the customer.
  • Complete contract review of the purchase order, to facilitate the booking process of the OE Team and AM team.
  • Clarify with customers any unclear or inaccurate information on the PO in a prompt manner.
  • Achieve quality order entry in accordance with the latest Sales Approval Policy, ensuring EIS records for seals and auxiliary product orders are entered cleanly within a clearly specified time frame from receipt/clarification.
  • Learn and effectively use the various tools including, but not limited to: FAEP, OEPDMs, Trident, Nexus, autoSAP as a basis to support GTEC for creating qualitative quotations.
