Job Summary

Holland Pump Company is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Application Engineer to support the continued growth of our engineering, operational, and technical capabilities. This position will be responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining applications and engineering solutions that support Holland Pump's pump rental, dewatering, water treatment, fabrication, equipment design, and field operations.

The Application Engineer will work closely with Engineered Solutions, Operations, Service, Sales, IT, and other cross-functional teams to develop practical technology solutions that improve equipment design, system performance, workflow efficiency, data visibility, and overall productivity.

The ideal candidate combines application development experience with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering, CAD design, industrial equipment, automation, and system integration. Experience working with pumps, fluid-handling systems, construction equipment, manufacturing, or industrial rental operations is highly desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain software applications supporting Holland Pump's engineering, rental, service, manufacturing, fabrication, and field operations.
  • Develop technology solutions that improve the design, selection, configuration, operation, and maintenance of pumps, dewatering systems, piping systems, water treatment equipment, and related accessories.
  • Integrate engineering and CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, BIM tools, or similar systems into engineering and operational workflows.
  • Create and maintain mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, schematics, piping configurations, system designs, component models, and other technical documentation.
  • Support the development of standardized pump system designs for applications including bypass pumping, wellpoint dewatering, deep well systems, trench dewatering, water transfer, and water treatment.
  • Develop tools and applications that assist Engineering, Sales, and Operations teams with equipment selection, system sizing, project planning, technical calculations, and project execution.
  • Assist with integrating engineering applications with Holland Pump business systems, including ERP, CRM, fleet management, reporting, and other operational platforms where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive engineering and operational processes to improve accuracy, productivity, and consistency.
  • Utilize programming and automation technologies such as C++, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Arduino, PLC/CNC controls, APIs, databases, or similar development platforms as required.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis when applications, engineering systems, integrations, or automated processes do not perform as expected.
  • Support simulation, tolerance analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and other engineering validation activities when required.
  • Apply appropriate engineering standards, including GD&T, ASME standards, tolerances, drafting standards, and equipment design principles.
  • Partner with Operations and Service teams to understand field challenges and develop practical solutions that improve equipment reliability, safety, efficiency, and ease of use.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, application specifications, system configurations, drawings, procedures, user instructions, and training materials.
  • Train and support employees on newly developed applications, engineering tools, and technical processes.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies that could improve Holland Pump's engineering, rental fleet, field operations, customer service, and competitive position.
  • Ensure applications and engineering solutions support Holland Pump safety standards and the Company's commitment to ensuring Everyone Goes Home Safe.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Relevant combination of education and industrial application development experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing applications or technical solutions within an industrial, engineering, manufacturing, construction, equipment rental, or mechanical environment preferred.
  • Experience with pump systems, fluid mechanics, dewatering, piping systems, water treatment, rotating equipment, or industrial equipment is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar 2D/3D design software.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles including machine design, tolerances, mechanical assemblies, piping systems, GD&T, and system design.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis abilities.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
