THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING FROM THE GRANT PROVIDER.
APEX Associate Director position is located in Central, Ohio. This will be a hybrid position of both remote and satellite office in Central Ohio.
The APEX Associate Director will deliver quality, cost effective and expeditious services to OU APEX clients in central Ohio. This position also serves as the main support for the OU APEX Director. The position is responsible regionally for promotion and marketing of program and associated workshops, goal setting and metric achievement, client reporting, general counseling on business development, which involves knowledge of how to create professional relationships with government program managers, contracting officers and prime contractors. A working knowledge of best business practices for performing on government contracts at the local, state and federal levels is required. This position will ensure continued growth of the APEX Program and contribute to the development of new initiatives and overall strategies.
Primary duties include: Management and Program Support - Manage data processing, monitoring and capturing of key performance measures. Supervise two procurement specialists within assigned region while providing assistance and systems support. Assist with prioritizing regional activities among staff and with the director. Client Support - Perform one-to-one consulting with business and government/industry procurement officials; plan, organize, and present seminars, workshops, networking conferences; conduct client research, data entry of client meetings/interactions; handle client questions and follow-up for assigned area. Internal and External Coordination - With the Director, provide leadership and serve as central coordinator of services, programs and events related to the APEX program for assigned region. Coordinate with staff external relations outreach to stakeholders, resource partners and economic development organizations. Marketing and communications - Work in coordination with other associate directors, program director and procurement specialist within the network to develop, market and implement outreach programs for both training events and awareness
Position Profile
Oversees designated research program, center, or facility and related activities. Manages assigned budget and/or financial responsibilities for program. Evaluates program and provides strategic recommendations for change as needed. Represents program to internal and external contacts. Collaborates with University schools, departments, units regarding program. May be responsible for staff management, compliance monitoring, and writing/reviewing research protocols.
Level Summary

Contributes to the development of the area's operational plan, ensuring alignment with broader departmental or institutional goals. Accountable for the achievement of the unit's operational objectives, improving performance and addressing resource needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages a medium-sized team. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities
Responsible for managing team or department budgets and resources.
Problem Solving
Addresses departmental or cross-team issues, devises long-term solutions.
Independence of Action
Acts independently, with consultation with senior management.
Communication and Collaboration
Facilitates communication among team and higher-level leadership, builds relationships across University.
Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5 or more years of related professional experience, and 3 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience. Healthcare professionals must hold, or be eligible for, appropriate licensure as required by position.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include a master's degree with professional and supervisory experience.
