Position Overview

Econ One is seeking an Analyst/Senior Analyst to support our Energy Practice. Analysts serve as core members of case teams on challenging and high-profile matters, contributing quantitative analysis, data management, and research in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. This role is well suited for candidates who enjoy solving complex analytical problems, working with large and imperfect datasets using programming tools like Python, and producing precise, high-quality work product under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

Analysts in the Energy Practice are involved in all phases of consulting engagements and may be responsible for:
  • Conducting quantitative research and analysis related to electricity and power markets, regulatory issues, and litigation matters
  • Constructing, cleaning, and managing large and complex datasets using Python and Excel
  • Performing data analysis, statistical evaluation, and investigative work with minimal supervision
  • Preparing clear, well-organized memoranda, exhibits, and presentations summarizing analytical findings
  • Assisting in the preparation of expert reports, declarations, and testimony materials
  • Reviewing and checking work product for accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Supporting fact checking and backup preparation for reports and exhibits
  • Reviewing and synthesizing information from discovery materials, deposition testimony, academic literature, and public data sources
  • Working closely with senior staff and experts while managing multiple assignments under tight deadlines


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring a strong quantitative foundation, exceptional attention to detail, and a demonstrated interest in energy markets and litigation consulting.

Requirements

Required:
  • Advanced Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Optimization or Engineering
  • 2-3 years of experience in energy consulting, economic consulting, electric utility, power markets or a related analytical role
  • Experience working with large, messy, or complex datasets
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to apply statistical concepts
  • Proficiency with Python, GAMS, and Excel for data analysis and presentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and meeting deadlines


Preferred:
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of energy market modeling, particularly electricity and power
  • Experience supporting litigation, regulatory proceedings, or expert analysis
  • Comfort presenting complex quantitative results to non-technical audiences
  • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule out of the Washington D.C. office
