AltaGas - Project Engineer, NEBC

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the engineering and technical aspects of projects from early development through project closeout. Working closely with Project Managers, Operations, Engineering, Construction teams, and external partners, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and fit for purpose.

You will:

  • Managing engineering scope, technical deliverables, budgets, schedules, and project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinating internal and external engineering resources, reviewing technical deliverables, and ensuring designs meet operational, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and identification of efficiency opportunities.
  • Leading technical evaluations and supporting procurement activities for equipment, materials, and services.
  • Acting as the primary technical contact for vendors and contractors to ensure fabrication, construction, and installation activities meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Providing engineering support during construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout, including resolving technical issues and responding to RFIs.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance engineering practices, processes, and project delivery.


You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • P.Eng. or P.L. (Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
  • 5+ years of progressive project engineering and/or project management experience in the energy, midstream, or industrial sectors.
  • Experience executing both greenfield and brownfield capital projects.
  • Working knowledge of gas processing facilities, pipelines, terminals, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of applicable regulations, industry codes, and standards, including ABSA, AER, BCOGC, TSBC, CSA, ASME, OH&S, and OSHA.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or a similar ERP system is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel to field locations as required and hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
