About this opportunityEricsson Research is growing its AI Silicon Valley team, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and wireless technologies. The team advances technology leadership by applying AI and machine learning to the next generation of wireless communication systems. This role focuses on research exploring how wireless networks can be designed, optimized, and operated through AI. You will collaborate across teams and work alongside researchers across the industry, contributing directly to Ericsson's technology strategy. This is an in-office position based in Santa Clara, California. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
What you will do- Collaborate with an international, diverse team of researchers to develop AI/ML solutions for future mobile networks.
- Develop machine learning methods and algorithms that address complex problems across the wireless communication stack.
- Conduct research and experiments, build and evaluate models, and generate results that demonstrate the value of AI for wireless systems.
- Explore emerging AI techniques and assess how they can be applied to wireless communication challenges.
- Partner with research, development, and product teams to bring research outcomes into real-world products and technologies.
- Publish and present findings at leading industry and academic venues.
- Contribute to a collaborative research culture by sharing ideas and helping shape the team's technical direction.
The skills you will bring- A PhD, MSc, or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field - ideally with a focus on AI/ML and/or wireless communications.
- Knowledge of wireless communications concepts and systems.
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
- Familiarity with physical AI-related technologies such as AI for robotics, AI infrastructure, or hardware/software co-design.
- Familiarity with open-source networking simulators such as ns-3 or OMNeT++.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to develop and advance technical proposals and solutions.
- Ability to scope and lead research efforts, make decisions, and take initiative in a timely manner.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and innovation skills.

Your PayThe salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
The salary range for this position is
• Santa Clara, CA: $146,500 - $192,150. Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit's objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your TimeYour work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
