Job Description
The AI Business Liaison serves as the connection between TRI business and project teams and the AI & Digital Enablement capability, helping identify where AI, automation, data, and other technology can meaningfully improve how work is performed.
The Liaison develops an understanding of business functions, workflows, information needs, pain points, and desired outcomes; educates stakeholders on relevant AI and automation capabilities; facilitates opportunity-discovery discussions; and helps assess and prioritize opportunities based on expected value, feasibility, risk, funding, and measurable success criteria.
The AI Business Liaison remains engaged with business owners, subject-matter experts, AI Engineers, and other IT teams as opportunities progress from discovery through prototype, evaluation, pilot, and adoption. The role does not require software development or AI model development, but does require sufficient AI and technology fluency to recognize potential applications, explain capabilities and limitations in practical business terms, and translate between business stakeholders and technical teams.
The Liaison also helps establish business ownership, supports adoption and benefit realization, and identifies opportunities that may be better addressed through conventional automation, process improvement, existing platforms, or other technology rather than AI.
Job Requirements
Experience working directly with business stakeholders to understand business processes, workflows, information flows, pain points, and operational objectives.
Working knowledge of generative AI, AI agents, automation, analytics, and other emerging digital capabilities, with the ability to explain their practical uses and limitations to non-technical audiences.
Strong discovery, facilitation, interviewing, and consultative skills, including the ability to move from a loosely defined business problem to a qualified opportunity.
Ability to assess and help prioritize opportunities based on business value, feasibility, risk, effort, cost, and measurable outcomes.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills across business, technical, and leadership audiences.
Ability to translate between business SMEs and technical teams without requiring either audience to become expert in the other's discipline.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to distinguish among opportunities for AI, automation, process improvement, analytics, or conventional technology solutions.
This role is fully remote for those living in the DMV area. (Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C.)
