Full Job Description
An established, multi-location equipment dealer is seeking an Agricultural Equipment Sales Representative to grow its customer base and market share across a Central Indiana territory based out of its Lebanon, Indiana store. The territory is made up of row-crop, livestock, and specialty operations of every size, from family farms to large commercial growers, backed by a dealership with a strong reputation for parts and service support.

This is a relationship-driven, outside sales role for someone who understands agriculture, speaks the language of the farm, and knows that the sale is only the beginning of a long-term partnership. You will manage an established book of customers while developing new accounts, supported by a full team of parts, service, and precision ag specialists behind every deal.

What You Will Do

Grow the Territory
• Sell new and used agricultural equipment, including tractors, combines, planters, tillage, hay and forage, and application equipment, to farm operators within an assigned territory.
• Manage and deepen relationships with existing customers while prospecting and converting new accounts, including conquest customers running competitive brands.
• Conduct on-farm visits, field demonstrations, and equipment walkarounds to understand each operation and recommend the right solutions.
• Represent the dealership at field days, farm shows, customer events, and community functions.

Build and Close Deals
• Prepare quotes, proposals, and trade-in appraisals, and structure deals that are profitable for the dealership and make sense for the customer.
• Work with manufacturer and third-party finance partners to present financing, leasing, and incentive programs.
• Negotiate and close sales, and coordinate delivery, setup, and customer orientation on new equipment.
• Maintain disciplined gross margin and help manage used equipment inventory through accurate trade valuations.

Partner Across the Dealership
• Work hand in hand with parts, service, and precision ag teams to support customers throughout the ownership lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities for service agreements, extended warranties, technology upgrades, and parts sales.
• Relay market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing, and customer needs to sales leadership.

Stay Organized and Accountable
• Track leads, customer activity, and pipeline in the dealership CRM and business system.
• Forecast sales and meet or exceed volume and margin targets.
• Stay current on product knowledge, manufacturer programs, and industry trends through OEM training.

Requirements

Required
• Experience: 2+ years of agricultural equipment sales experience, or a strong farming background combined with a demonstrated record in outside or B2B sales.
• Ag knowledge: Solid understanding of farm operations, crop cycles, and how equipment decisions affect a grower's productivity and bottom line.
• Relationship skills: Ability to earn trust with farm operators and build long-term, repeat business.
• Self-motivation: Comfortable managing your own schedule and territory with minimal oversight.
• Business sense: Ability to structure deals, evaluate trade-ins, and protect margin.
• Logistics: Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the territory, including early mornings and seasonal peaks.

Preferred
• Experience with a major ag OEM line (e.g., Case IH, John Deere, AGCO, New Holland, Kubota, or comparable).
• Established relationships with farm operators in Central Indiana.
• Familiarity with precision ag technology, guidance systems, and telematics.
• Experience using CRM and dealer business systems.
• Bachelor's degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Benefits
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, phone, and laptop.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Ongoing OEM product and sales training.
  • Compensation Target: $65,000 - 120,000+
