Full Job Description
Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Agency Certification Engineer. This is a Full-Time role (Monday-Friday, Daylight) based at our facility in Menomonee Falls WI!

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.

Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you'll do:

The Agency Certification Engineer owns product safety certification and regulatory compliance for the Industrial Control product portfolio; control circuit devices, pilot devices, contactors, starters, overload relays, control relays, and related motor-control and industrial control products. Serving as the primary technical authority and agency liaison for UL, CSA, and IEC certification bodies. This role ensures new and existing products achieve and maintain certification, that plant audits and certification files stay compliant, and that no product launch or shipment is delayed by a compliance gap. It demands a fast, responsive operator who actively tracks every open certification task to closure and gives leadership real-time status, not periodic catch-ups. The position works across engineering, the test lab, manufacturing, and the agencies, acting as the single point of accountability for certification status, part hands-on technical authority, part program manager driving multiple certification efforts in parallel.

Job Responsibilities:

Certification ownership & responsiveness
- Own end-to-end agency certification for assigned Industrial Control product lines, from gap assessment through file approval and ongoing maintenance.
- Respond rapidly to certification questions, engineering change requests, and agency inquiries - treating compliance as a fast-moving service function, not a back-office queue.
- Determine applicable standards (UL 60947 / UL 508, CSA, IEC 60947 series, and others) and define the test and evidence plan required for each listing.

Task tracking & program management
- Actively track every open certification task, submittal, and audit action through to closure with clear owners and due dates, so nothing lapses or stalls.
- Manage multiple concurrent certification programs against committed dates, escalating risks early rather than reporting them late.
- Maintain a portfolio-wide view of certification status, expirations, and risk, and report it to leadership on a live basis.

NPI/NPD launch support
- Serve as the certification gatekeeper in NPI/NPD programs, embedding certification milestones into the project timeline so Industrial Control launches are never delayed by compliance.
- Review designs, components, and materials early to confirm certifiability and prevent late-stage rework.
Agency & audit management
- Act as the primary contact for certification agencies and field representatives, managing submittals, reviews, and follow-up.
- Lead follow-up/plant audits, resolve nonconformances, and drive corrective actions to fast closure.

Change & maintenance control
- Assess product, part, and material changes for certification impact and process re-evaluations to keep listings valid.
- Proactively renew certifications ahead of expiration to prevent any lapse in compliance.

Leadership & visibility
- Mentor certification and design engineers on standards interpretation and compliant design practice.
- Build and maintain certification dashboards and trackers (Power BI / Jira / Excel) giving leadership real-time status, expiration risk, and audit-action visibility."

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of product design experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now and in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility listed will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred:

-knowledge of UL, NEC, IEEE, CSA, and various codes & standards.
-The ability to interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings is also required.
-Experience certifying Industrial Control products (control circuit / pilot devices, contactors, starters, relays).
-Familiarity with NPI/NPD stage-gate processes and certification milestone planning.
- Formal project management experience or training (PMP or equivalent) - managing certification efforts as tracked projects with milestones, owners, and committed dates.
- Experience with international schemes (CB Scheme, CE/UKCA) and hazardous-location or functional-safety requirements.

Core Competencies
- Fast, reliable responsiveness under competing priorities
- Rigorous task and action tracking - nothing falls through
- Standards interpretation and technical judgment under ambiguity
- Program ownership and accountability across functions
- Risk identification and proactive escalation
- Clear executive communication of compliance status and risk
- Mentorship and team capability-building

Skills:

Soft skills
  • Strong cross-functional communication with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated responsiveness and disciplined task tracking across many concurrent open items.
